About this deal

From the bestselling author of The Best of Friends comes a heart-stopping psychological thriller about the shades of truth and the power of lies in the wake of one mother’s unspeakable loss. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce. There are lots of plot twists and turns, some I was expecting and some, not so much so but each added to the overall enjoyment of the book. I won't go into details because of spoilers but she was 100% inappropriate in every single way in regards to Isaac.

There is plenty of heat, and I enjoyed that the intimate scenes are grounded in emotional connection. Her son and another teenage boy plunge into the water with her, but Jules can only manage to save one—the wrong one. There was also a few plot holes, that I don't think would have been there if so much hadn't been going on. I remember when I read Saving Noah I wanted to fight the mom so bad, but the storyline and flashbacks were so interesting, I could blow past it. The mom also remembers a day where his oatmeal wasnt the right consistency and when she offered to fix it he gave her this weird bone chilling look and wondered if he had always been this disgruntled teenager and if this was just part of his life plan.

Finn is adorable, he’s very sweet and excited to have his first important journalism experience following Wes’ training for the Olympics after an Achilles rupture left him doing rehab and struggling to get back in top shape for the Olympics. There is a difference between a character keeping a secret from the reader, and the author keeping a secret from the reader. It’s been a long time since I’ve flew through a book like this and I have to credit that to Berry’s writing style!

After Jules leaves the facility, where she spends more than a month, Isaac goes missing and the police fear he’s the latest victim of a serial killer targeting teenage boys; Isaac’s mother thinks Jules is responsible, given her insistence in the accident’s aftermath on seeing and talking to Isaac and bonding with him over their shared near-death experience. Let me know in the comments wherever you may find this review, or on social media somewhere if that isn’t possible. Both narrators created just the right amount of tension and heat between Finn and Wes that made you long for these two to go after their dreams and find their very own HEA together. Instead we get all kinds of irrelevant details such as kid sister sleeping in the bed with her parents over fears of the “rampaging kidnapper/ serial killer”, among other completely irrelevant details that are never really explored or shown why they are crucial to the story being told. Wes and Finn were such easy characters to fall in love with, and each chapter had me eager and excited to experience their HEA journey together!

Cons: wanted to fight both of the adults, did not give a single fuck if Isaac turned up dead or alive, the ending was so random.

Others are enjoying this book more than I did, so please seek out their reviews and decide if this is the book for you. Well I am here to tell you that this character is written in a way you wished she died in the lake instead of Gabe. He is *very* much suspected of being a fellow Autistic, and because of his brilliance I was able to follow in his footsteps to rise myself out of being a trailer p. Combine Lucinda Berry’s deep understanding of the complexities of the human mind with her immense talent for storytelling and you have The Secrets of Us , an intense psychological thriller that kept my heart racing until the shocking, jaw-dropping conclusion. There were a couple of holes that were left, including the initial person of suspect that the police were linking Isaacs's disappearance too. Jules went from a seemingly completely normal woman to full on fruit loops and it made no sense whatsoever. He’s tasked with covering the diver’s comeback as a human interest story but knows nothing about the sport. From the bestselling author of The Best of Friends comes a heart-stopping psychological thriller about the shades of truth and the power of lies in the wake of one mother's unspeakable loss. While I don’t think I really loved how everything ended up playing out, it was still a solid read and I can’t wait to explore more from her!
