About this deal

alizeh’s last chapter actually tore my heart out of my chest and stomped on it til that mf was unidentifiable and my gosh i can’t wait for tahereh mafi to do it again

if you didn't like shatter me and hated all those things i mentioned above? (hi paige) read this book Alizeh wants nothing to do with Cyrus, or his deal with Iblees. But with no means of escaping Tulan, and with the tantalizing promise of fulfilling her destiny as the heir to the Jinn, she's forced to wonder whether she can set aside her emotions and finally become the queen her people need. Guys, this book was so INTENSE. And very dramatic lol. But the last few chapters in Alizeh's pov?? I was blushing 😳 My jaw was on the floor. I was screaming, crying and throwing up anytime these two were together. THE FACT THAT HE CALLS HER ANGEL??????This book was what I needed. No honestly after reading the first book I thought this one would be disappointing too but guys this book was ᴇᴠᴇʀʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ( ͡❛ ₃ ͡❛). if you want to have any chance of marrying me or just being allowed in my very presence and to breathe the same air as me? WHY AREN'T YOU READING THIS BOOK ALREADY WHY ARE U STILL HERE. I am scared of Tahereh Mafi. She takes tropes that I despise with all my being, puts them all into the same book and creates the greatest series on the planet. What witchcraft is this? I refuse to believe we use the same alphabet. Somehow with only twenty-six letters she wrote this brilliant masterpiece and all I can think of for my review is "I love it." Even though not a ton happened, this book still managed to be AMAZING and also very entertaining!! I gave it a 4☆ rating because I did wish there was more actiony scenes. Mafi introduces some potent issues around whether passive resistance or confrontation is the better community strategy, and scenes of anti-Muslim aggression are brief but impactful." — Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books

Tahereh Mafi, known for her fantasy and dystopian novels, proves a master of the contemporary realistic novel, as well, with A Very Large Expanse of Sea,longlisted for a National Book Award. Shirin’s first-person voice bristles with anger, wit and pain. Even as the fraught love story drives the short chapters to a surprising close, Mafi weaves in moments of camaraderie and joy.”— Washington Post let me start off by saying this: if cyrus and alizeh aren’t endgame i will hunt miss tahereh down and give her a VERY stern talking to. Similar to my experience with TWK, Alizeh’s chapters in this book were more interesting than Kamran’s—partly because of her interactions with this new setting and partly because of her banter with Cyrus (the king of Tulan). Compared with its prequel, the dialogue between all characters in These Infinite Threads is more engaging. This story is so magical and transportive that I fully expected the book would know the moment I’d finished – within hours, no less – and promptly unravel into a pile of jewels and silks in my hands. Mafi’s diamond-bright lyrical voice weaves a tale that is gilded in magic, laced with subterfuge, adorned with the brocade of a tortuous romance, and richly embroidered with Persian mythology. I cannot wait for more.’ – Roshani Chokshi, New York Times bestselling author of The Gilded Wolves

More in Books

okay so most of the book is just build up (maybe cause it’s the second book? it would be acceptable kinda if it was a trilogy cause most second books in trilogies are underwhelming but i saw somewhere that there will be more than three books so irdk with this) probably the third book will be good? idk but i’ll go in with low expectations 💔💔 Idk how Tahereh Mafi does it but there is some sort of drug in the way she writes and creates books. Istg this book… I‘m completely and utterly in love and I know that it‘s only going to get better from here on out! what i said about kamran’s and cyrus’ characterisations applies here too (that is, a mix of a bunch of romance tropes that bring nothing new to the table). (spoiler next, skip to point 5 if you dont wanna know) what irritated me, though, is that the book is promoted as enemies to lovers (as far as i am aware, at least), which obviously means cyrus and alizeh (since kamran and alizeh were insta love), but at the end of this book we find out that, guess what, he actually never hated her and he actually dreamed of her for months and calls her angel in his head, can you believe that?! just… ugh. the characters. where does one even start here… first off, i skipped all of kamran’s chapters except the first one (i skimmed through it) because he’s annoying af. i tried, i really did, to read them but he’s just too insufferable for me im sorry. there’s absolutely nothing about this character that hasnt been done before, he’s literally a combination of all basic tropes that are popular nowadays, and this amalgamation is not even well-done.

Drawn from Persian mythology and Islamic texts, this epic fantasy is brilliantly structured to maximize readers’ emotional buy-in. Eloquent prose brings vivid immediacy to each scene. Although Alizeh and Kamran are only together a handful of times, Mafi gives full due to their steamy, forbidden attraction. [The] ending ensures a breathlessly awaited sequel." — Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books the plot. i was complaining to my friend earlier today about this book and when she asked me what even is the plot of the book i fr couldnt answer. alizeh becoming the queen of jinn? yeah maybe. alizeh & co fighting the devil? can be. there are little pieces here and there but there is no one big, interesting plot that would make this whole book worth reading. idk maybe the author wanted to focus on romance rather than the plot but if that’s the case then… i have already made my opinion on the romance aspect known lol. Alizeh, the heir to the Jinn throne, is destined to free her people from the half-lives they’ve been forced to live under human rule. When Kamran, the heir to the human throne, falls in love with her, he’s forced to question everything he’s been taught about Jinn.Mafi follows her National Book Award–longlisted A Very Large Expanse of Sea (2018) with another contemporary young adult novel of striking emotional intensity. Complex and introspective Shadi details her experiences with the specific challenges of Islamaphobia and with more general issues. With masterfully compelling prose, this surprises and ensnares, leading readers to an inevitable but gripping climax. There's... formidable nuance in Shadi’s paradoxical and contradictory thought patterns, which add even more to the blunt realism.Emotional implications of great magnitude and stakes that could not feel higher. A bluntly powerful read that shouldn't be missed." — ALA Booklist (starred review)

PRAISE FOR THE Shatter Me SERIES:“Written with precision and a sense of urgency, each chapter a strobe light–like moment in the lives of the teens trying to save their world. The prose oves readers swiftly from crisis to crisis.”— Booklist Online Alizeh wants nothing to do with Cyrus, or his deal with Iblees. But with no means of escaping Tulan, and with the tantalizing promise of fulfilling her destiny as the heir to the Jinn, she’s forced to wonder whether she can set aside her emotions-and finally become the queen her people need. i really do not know why i keep trying to force myself to like tahereh mafi’s books when i know they’re not for me but we have what we have i guess !! anyways, straight to the point on why i gave this book 1 star: Tahereh Mafi has written a timely, compelling novel about love and family and the remarkably complex nature of religion and faith. An Emotion of Great Delightis as profound as it is beautiful." — Matt de la Peña, New York Timesand Newbery Medal winning author of The Last Stop on Market Street This story holds a mirror up to the ugly reality of religious bigotry. That disturbing truth, however, is offset by a portrait of a strong Muslim teen girl who defies stereotypes on multiple levels. Shirin insists on her right to approach life on her own clear-eyed terms, granting compassion to the deserving and an education to those who need it.”— Bulletin of the Center for Children’s BooksTahereh Mafi soars to new heights with A Very Large Expanse Of Sea. A singular new novel from one of YA’s brightest voices.”— Entertainment Weekly i want to take a star away from the last book just because this one was so much better. on miss abby lee miller's pyramid, this book is a Maddie and the other book is a Chloe, and every other book in existence is a Candy Apple. i still don't love the writing style being so drawn out and overly complicated. it was never difficult to read (whereas book one i think it slightly was) but this book uses such big words and drawn-out turns of phrase to describe really simple things. i felt it worked in some places but really flopped in others. I like 𝐴𝑙𝑖𝑧𝑒ℎ. In the first book, I didn't feel so much for her but in this book her character development was great. She can be a badass but she is soft-hearted too. I want to know about her in the next book. She is a very interesting character. The fact that she didn't know how to eat bread killed me but I understand why she didn't know it. And it breaks my heart.
