Peel the carrier sheet: One thing you want to pay attention to, in case you use a different brand of iron-on vinyl, is if it’s cold, warm or hot peel. While it might seem like it’s just a silly detail. Some kinds of heat transfer vinyl work better when peeled off at a certain temperature. Preheat your surface: Once your EasyPress has reached the desired temperature, it will beep. Now you can press your surface for about 5 seconds. This will get rid of all wrinkles and smooth your surface if you sill see wrinkles, press again for another 5 seconds. One great tip from the folks at Cricut is to fold your base material in half and use your EasyPress to create small creases in the material. This will for a plus sign on your base material that will help guide you when placing larger items. Cricut EasyPress 9 x 9 inches: This is the medium size and weighing only 5.7lb it’s the perfect size for most projects and probably the most recommend if you are an EasyPress newbie. It works perfectly for projects like: With a household iron, you will never know the exact temperature of the exact area you are trying to press. This means that when you are pressing with an iron, while some areas might get the required heat, other areas might not.
If your large design uses multiple different types or iron-on material or several smaller designs, you might decide to peel off the protective liners as you go. Just make sure the heat press doesn’t touch the areas you’ve already peeled off. You can use the liners for protection as you’re working through your design. Cricut EasyPress Mini is moved continuously over the design during transfer. Be sure to cover all areas of the design, including center and edges. Allow heat plate to extend approximately 0.5" (13 mm) beyond all edges of the design. The EasyPress is a Cricut machine companion, it combines the lightweight portability of a regular iron with the evenly-distributed heat and the surface of a heat press. Use a Cricut EasyPress Mat or Cricut Pressing Mat rather than a folded towel. Towels hold too much moisture and cause unwanted transfer effects.Simply place your design and set the EasyPress down over it. (Note: If you have to use something like a cloth between your base material and your EasyPress, you may need to bump the temp or apply heat for longer.) Iron-on material is traditionally associated with fabric, but you can use the EasyPress to adhere iron-on designs to other bases like wood and paper. As with ironing on to fabric, your base material and workspace must be super flat so that the EasyPress can distribute heat evenly. Note: Ensure your design is within the maximum recommended design sizes for using Cricut EasyPress Mini with iron-on (4" W x 3.5" L or 1.7" W x 5.25" L). Matching mats: With bigger (and smaller!) machines, comes a need for bigger (and smaller) mats. The Cricut EasyPress 2 mats are available in three sizes, perfectly fitted to your machine.
