While others may find more enjoyment in this audiobook, I personally found myself unable to finish it. i feel like this book is all about the romance and smut, but the characters dont have personalities or their own individual subplot or journey or character development, which is kind of an ick/deterrent for me. Margo Moretti is approached by her Ex-Boyfriend’s Brother – Beckham Sinclair – about becoming his new assistant – but eventually weaves this tale that they fell in love and got engaged. One minute you’re a struggling graphic designer in LA that’s finally coming to terms with being single forever, and the next you’re flying to New York in a private jet to get engaged to your ex-boyfriend’s older brother.

I could tell that it was inspired by tropes that I know and love, and the vibes were working for me. However, despite multiple attempts over several days, I regrettably found myself unable to finish the audiobook. I love the denied attraction, the build to the chemistry and relationship that has them blurring lines and changing end-dates and I love the emotional and sexual explosion when they’ve reached their limits of deniability. I have been living for the billionaire romances lately and Black Ties and White Lies may have just poughed its way to the top. He can dirty-talk like no other, is bossy in the bedroom, gives good banter, and could win awards for the best grand gestures.Black Ties and White Lies is a billionaire, fake relationship, forced proximity, and ex's older brother novel and a complete standalone by Kat Singleton. The idea of living and working with Beck is already insane but now she’s supposed to be his smitten fiancée, too? Also the MMC just randomly comes out with overly sexual phrases when the FMC is being a brat which sound so forced and quite cringey, something no person would do in any normal circumstance.

But if you love the possessive alpha male that is larger than life in every thing that he does, you will love Beck! It was all very instalove on both sides, which didn’t make a whole lot of sense, because Margo had already been burned by his brother, and Beck was literally in need of a fake fiancée since he’d been sleeping around so much. They were goals, and Beck is the boy-obsessed billionaire that everyone deserves 💸 The way he cared for and doted on Margo despite all the reasons he shouldn’t was everything 🤌 I also enjoyed the way Margo never made anything easy for him, and I thought that they complemented each other well. The author is new to me but I’m so glad to have picked up this book because I really enjoyed Margo and Beck’s story. This dude is a douche and thinks he's being all hot and tormented, but he just sounds like a horny frat boy.Please I need more of them and I need to know how Margo’s friends are doing and if they find themselves a hot billionaire like Margo! Where do I send my resume because I already own a pencil skirt, so I'll be Beck's fake fiance for free. Also it's after midnight and I should very much prefer to be sleeping so idk if anything I wrote makes sense. If this is your first time reading Kat’s books and you haven’t read the Mixtape series, I definitely recommend reading that one to fully appreciate the bobblehead moments 🙂 Plus, “Founded on Goodbye,” the first book in the series, is my favorite of Kat’s, so here’s your excuse to read an awesome book. But with each passing day, Beck’s dirty mouth and lingering stares make me question his motives—and mine. In my opinion, the character says she will do things - and sometimes she does - but she doesn't truly grow; neither does the lead male character change or grow. But Beck starts off the book as being really controlling with her, and it rubbed me the wrong way when one time when they’re getting out of the car, he grabs her arm and won’t let go for awhile even though she makes it clear she doesn’t want him to keep holding onto her so roughly like that.We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Beck was a lovesick fool but in the best possible way and Margo was the one force capable of bringing the self-made mogul to his knees. Also what drove me mad were dialogues, to be specific - how men talked, cus they didn't talk, they GROWLED, ROARED, HISSED EVERY DAMN TIME THEY OPENED THEIR MOUTH wtf are they dogs? It was so good to read a story where neither party was traumatised, low on angst, and simply a beautiful but steamy romance.
