About this deal

For all these grand events, none can compare to the return of a demigod long thought lost to the annals of legend. Lion El’Jonson, Primarch of the Dark Angels, has awoken, and by strange paths has returned to aid the Imperium in its darkest hour. Will the Lion triumph, or will the champions of Chaos unleash a new and nightmarish force upon the galaxy? Beanith: My best guess is the Angron book will contain the Faction-specific content and rules for Chaos Marines, Space Marines & Imperium; Vashtorr will cover Chaos Daemons, Admech and probably have the Necrons shoehorned in somehow. The 4th book is unnamed but ‘will be a distinctly xenos affair’, which I assume is code for it will be some horrific Xenos mashed burrito. Rob: There’s a really cool bit of lore in here that talks about the difficulty actually leading the chaos legions, with Abaddon musing about the difficulty of managing a bunch of disparate warbands. It’s a cool setup for the Warmaster’s headspace as he figures out his next steps. Norman: Despite Iron Hands players making up like 5% of the meta, no one knows what you’re talking about, Condit.

Don’t worry if you can’t get your hands on this special edition set when it comes out – the Lion will be available solo in just a few weeks. You’ll have plenty of time to paint him up to use in your first games of the new edition of Warhammer 40,000.Rad Leak takes the players into proximity of a leaking reactor. The board is divided into four sectors, labelled A through D, representing different levels of distance away from the reaction (sector A is particularly bad). During the course of the mission the radiation levels increase, ranging from “none” to “extreme” depending on how bad things are. The effect of radiation is to reduce Leadership, Move, and Toughness characteristics depending on the level. Players can score up to 15 points per turn for securing one, two, or more objectives. At the end of the game players score 15 points if they control both markers labelled Critical and 10 points for killing the enemy Warlord. The Arks of Omen season brought several changes to the game. The Arks of Omen detachmentmade list building far more open-ended, making it easier to construct an army list however you like. As with previous matched play seasons, GW released a Munitorum Field Manual with updated points values for all units, and a Balance Dataslate that made tweaks to their rules. We’ve produced a rundown of the differences between the Arks of Omen Balance Dataslate, and the previous season of matched play. The book features a total of nine missions in a familiar format, with each mission containing specific rules, objectives, Underdog Bonus, and a map for setting up the individual terrain sections. Every mission but one features four objective markers (Power Struggle features five). Every mission features a progressive objective revolving around controlling objective markers in addition to a secondary element such as an end game objective. All but one (Access Junction Primus) includes a caveat that objectives cannot be controlled in the first round and that the player who goes second scores their final turn at the end of the turn instead of at the end of their Command Phase. Unlike matched play there are no secondary objectives or bonus points for having a painted army. There is also no limit on the total points that can be achieved from securing primary objectives, outside of those specified in the missions. This special launch set also features three Bladeguard Veterans to flank the Lion, two gorgeous art prints featuring illustrations from Arks of Omen: The Lion , and a sheet of Dark Angels transfers to detail his retinue.*

You can paint the gold with Retributor Armor and the face with Cadian Fleshtone , and add depth to both with Reikland Fleshshade . Paint the metallic elements with Iron Hands Steel , the Watchers’ robes and wax seals with Barak-Nar Burgundy , and finish it all off by shading them with Nuln Oil . Arks of Omen: The Lion As usual in the Arks books, we get some faction rules for Boarding Activities. And, as usual, they’re all pretty good! Chaos Daemons Each book in the series will introduce new developments for both the story and tabletop experience, adding new missions, expanded rules, and extra options for your Boarding Actions games. If you’re wondering how Boarding Actions will play out in practice, you’ll just have to stay tuned for more Warhammer Day reveals. I can even see it being used in small ‘side missions’ in ongoing campaigns. All of the missions have an Underdog Bonus which can just as easily be given to the side with the lower Crusade Point total if you can’t be bothered to work out your points total. I would also suggest using the Combat Squads rule when you need to split up your 10 man squads even if your unit is missing that particular ability. On to the weapons. We have Vashtorr’s Claw, which is just a heavy flamer with extra AP and no melee profile. That’s fine though, he can punch with Vashtorr’s Hammer , which is Sx2 AP -2 D3. That’s right, AP -2. It’s got an ability to do 4 mortals instead, on a wound roll of 5+ and only against vehicles, but that’s both a corner case and very whiffable. Ok, fine, so the manifestation of the machine god’s will is a fancy thunder hammer. Not even a heavy thunder hammer. That’s fine, he exists for his abilities, surely. This book provides the basic rules players need to play Boarding Actions games. Unless otherwise specified, all of the Warhammer 40k Core Rules and those found in Codexes and supplementary publications also apply. Here are the major differences: CP and Stratagems Big boy season – in-detachment Lords of War with faction traits is huge news for the viability of some units, particularly Monoliths, Lords of Skulls and Guard Superheavies.

This really simplifies things during games and if you’re the kind of player who finds modern 40k is too complex, this may be something of a boon. Measurement, Range, and Visibility More command points to play with – factions that frequently used double Patrols or Patrol/Outrider (etc.) pay a far lower price to do so, and have more CP to spend on upgrades or early-game stratagems.Assuming you have the terrain set available, the game board consists of two game boards laid side by side to create a long battlefield area. The terrain is the same system as provided by Into the Dark , consisting of columns, walls, and hatchways. The system is intended to be flexible and you do not want to glue the pieces into subassemblies, as all of the missions specify the board layout down to the position of individual wall section. Setup is very explicit about using the provided game board, which features a template where columns and walls can be located in a grid-like pattern. Each square that is formed by this grid is referred to as a Zone. Want to open a door, but don’t feel like going near it? The Cogitator Override Node has you covered. This sleek little universal remote control lets your Tech Priest open or close hatchways from 9” away, and even lets you throw your model’s Strength into it if your opponent tries to hold it shut. If you’ve brought a Skitarii Marshal, he can have the Skull of Komodus tag along with him, allowing him to hand out full to-hit rerolls to a Skitarii Core unit within 6”. Neat! Norman: We’ll start with Vashtorr. Let me walk you all through my experience looking at this bastard’s datasheet: Luring the Dark Angels and other Imperial allies to the Somnium Stars, they present the loyalists, on arrival, with a grotesque surprise: a realistic, life-size, warp-twisted replica of the Dark Angels’ long since destroyed home planet, Caliban.
