About this deal

I tried this through both a practice amp and my 300W Peavey, with long- and short cabling, and there was no discernible noise at all volumes apart from the normal sounds I get from this setup. For my purposes this pedal with is CLEAN room and spring reverbs, (profoundly clear room reverb - better than my amps and even my zoom multistomp g50, but the coolest thing for me is the Shimmer verb effect- this pedal has a unique '5th harmonic up' is sort of jangles and shimmers mysteriously up there. In addition, Shimverb Pro has separated Shimmer footswitch and Dry/Wet knob, Hi Cut/Low Cut function, stereo input and stereo output.

I find myself thankful that I can lower the shimmer volume because the default setting is a little overpowering. You'll end up replacing the Behringer in time anyway (the 'swoosh' sound they make will drive you mad if nothing else), so just do yourself a favour and head this way instead. I bought this pedal because it was on sale and wanted to see if I could maybe replace my Behringer DR600 since I don't care much for it (don't use most of the modes, and wanted something with a better spring/room reverb). If you've yet to experience the majesty of shimmer reverb, let us explain: the 'verb trail is pitch-shifted - usually up an octave - to create an ethereal haze behind your guitar, a little like a synth pad. This is nothing unusual—as widespread as reverb is, nailing a good reverb tone for a bass guitar is a troublesome task.Play around with the settings and you can get some fantastic trippy sounds from it, and is more than good enough for a slow, elongated bass solo. If you use a compression/sustain unit, you may find you need to alter the settings a little on that, which can be a pain if you don't use this pedal much in your set. The room and spring reverbs are un-muddly and clear as a bell with the level / color and depth control providing plenty of range. In my experience, most of the reverb pedals in that range have glaring issues or disappointing limitations.

It's the shimmer we're here for, though, and while we weren't expecting Eventide levels of tracking, we didn't think it quite stacked up to shimmers from DigiTech or Zoom, either - to our ears, lower notes sounded a little out of tune. Heading straight for the church 'verb, there are the requisite mammoth reflections, which are highly customisable thanks to the ShimVerb's handy low cut and hi cut controls. Despite the few minor shortcomings, the ShimVerb Pro’s versatility and controllability make it a great little unit. The quality of the sound isn't entirely authentic - it's not exactly as if you're in a room, for example - but it is a good approximation.Shimmer: Add rich overtone into the reverb sound, spacy, smooth and shining, very popular in Post Rock music. With the Level and Decay both around the 10 'o' clock mark, it is like playing in a bathroom, which is quite nice, but you can get what you want from playing with the three dials easily enough. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). For your money, you get an on-off switch, a really bright blue LED, a three-way toggle at the top, and three dials - one big, two smaller. Merchant City Music Limited is a credit broker and is Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

If your guitar sound is based on shimmer, it's worth comparing it with the competition, but with its wide array of controls, the ShimVerb Pro covers all the reverb bases. Convenient Controls - Fine-tune your sound with dry, low cut, hi cut, pre-delay, decay, and wet controls, along with the Trail on/off switch for decay adjustments. Total Control at Your Feet - Equipped with two footswitches, you have the freedom to apply the effects individually or combine them for a truly unique audio experience. The final dial, "Colour," is a bit more difficult to explain, but I think of it as a definition of the furniture in the room: to the right and there's nothing, so the reverb echoes clearly, but to the left it tones it down on invisible sofas and tables, warming the sound up without deadening it. instead of shifting the reverb tail up an octave to get the shimmer effect (like most (all) shimmer pedals) it pitches the inbound notes up a 5th.Shimmer: Adds rich overtone into the reverb sound, spacy, smooth and shining, very popular in Post Rock music.
