About this deal

Having witnessed the terrible massacre of Imperial forces on Isstvan III, Death Guard Captain Garro seizes a ship and sets a course for Terra to warn the Emperor of Horus's treachery. Unfortunately for him, to reach Terra, "Eisenstein" must pass trough the warp and there the foulest of the Chaos Gods will rise unspeakable monsters against him. For newcomers to the 40k universe, the Heresy novels are set - much like the Clone Wars - in the build-up to the most pivotal moment of the saga. The beginning is packed with action and centers on Garro (the main charakter) and his Deathguard brothers but there are the Sisters Sororitas and even Mortarion himself aswell.

I had a gap of 6 months or more between book 3 and book 4, but I can't wait to charge through a few more of these right now. In a preliminary battle to take an outer facility held by the rebels the Death Guard and Emperor's Children encounter a Warsinger, one of the rebel leaders who can create sonic force and inspire their followers through their singing. This said I definitely enjoyed the book, devouring it almost entirely in one train journey, and I'm looking forward to the next few installments in the series. Auch er nimmt die Entwicklung um die Warrior Lodges wahr und kann sich mit deren verdeckten Aktivitäten nicht anfreunden.

One thing that I loved about the novel was that where we would normally see hope, the arrive of the Phalanx and Co.

The blurb tells you straight up, Garro and his loyals are heading for Terra to bring news of the betrayal to the Emperor himself.

Everything from the rot of the warp, to the gore of battle and the serenity of the environment has been captured in very tangible prose. The whole new/old theme has been prominent throughout the series so far, particularly with the lodges, new beliefs, and the fact that anybody can turn against you. Regardless of any flaws though, Flight of the Eisenstein is a sold entry into the series and one that you shouldn’t really miss.
