About this deal

The Goovis G3 has been awarded a SGS Low Visual Fatigue certification. In addition, the product has obtained the TÜV Rheinland certification for providing a comfortable low blue light viewing environment. At around 470g (16.6oz), the G3 Max is on the heavier side compared to earlier Goovis models, but thanks to the protruding plastic arms of the head strap that extend upwards, some of the weight goes on your forehead. I never felt like it was a burden; though I am now accustomed to various headsets. The Meta Quest 2 for comparison's sake is around 507g; only marginally heavier.

Let’s talk about my experience with the Goovis G3 Max and how it might compare to the Apple Vision Pro when it arrives. G3 Max still takes the best viewing experience as the core. Compared with the previous high-definition giant screen visual effect of 20 meters @ 800 inches, the FOV (angle of view) has been greatly improved to 65 degrees, and the picture frame has been increased by 50% compared with the previous generation. It has achieved IMAX level cinema giant screen visual effect by leaps and bounds. Two 2560 * 1440 silicon based OLED screens are far ahead of the commercial silicon based OLED screens in size and performance. GOOVIS has also challenged the more difficult “high image quality in the whole region” and eliminated the defect of blurring phase quality at the edge of many head display products. GOOVIS G3 Max is a precision optical device The Goovis G3 Max headset is introduced and demonstrated in a video appended to the end of this article. The headset is also illustrated in the figure below. The Goovis G3 Max headset. (Source: Goovis) Dr. Huajun Peng, Founder and CEO of NED Optics, began his journey to improve how people consume media after graduating from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2005. His work spans from television color management and AMOLED production to the design and manufacturing of microchips, and projector and near-field optics. Although the venture on the startup scene names him an entrepreneur, Dr. Peng prefers the term 'scientific researcher' as he believes technology to be the key defining feature of the company's success.Apple presented the Vision Pro as a pro-level product with all the technology built into the device. It’s fully stand-alone and does not seem to be able to be used as a screen for your laptop or iPhone. However, Apple’s WWDC presentation demonstrated how iOS apps, movies, and images would appear superimposed onto one’s surrounding environment using the Vision Pro. The Goovis has built-in speakers, but they are pretty weak, so I wouldn’t suggest using them. However, a good, wired headphone set makes all the difference. With headphones on and this display on your face, you might as well be in a movie theater where people are actually quiet, and you can enjoy the movie in peace. High definition pictures have always been the soul of GOOVIS. This series of products does not have the common “screen effect” of VR equipment, showing a clear hair, which can be said to be the best choice for film lovers. Goovis, which means Good Vision, is a brand of Shenzhen NED Optics Co. Ltd. (Shenzhen, China) or NED Optics. The Goovis (Hong Kong) division, found in 2015, engages in providing solutions for near eye display optics, monocular / binocular eyepiece modules and head mounted displays. The products use micro OLED technology. Goovis products can be used to view films and videos and to play games. Company literature goes on to explain that the headsets can also be utilized in industrial fields, such as simulated military training, remote control of autonomous vehicles, surgical training systems, myopia prevention and control, unmanned aerial vehicle control with first person view, live broadcast over a 5G network and other professional fields.

Alone, the Goovis is just a display, but it comes with a streaming media player with a battery that powers the device. However, it will also plug into a set-top box, game console, smartphone, or PC with a USB-C or HDMI cable if you want to use it without the media player. The new 8K player, GOOVIS D4, was also released with the G3 Max. The D4 has a powerful multi-mode ecological support performance, and has more playing methods to connect with the G3 Max. The two are a pair of “golden partners”. The combination of D4 and G3 Max supports dynamic desktop. In the future, it will also support panoramic video, achieve multi-level zoom of picture size, and expand the hybrid reality function. GOOVIS G3 Max is a high-precision optical equipment in essence, and high definition is the soul GOOVIS G3 MaxIt fits very tightly against your face. There is no top support, but initial testers have complained that the pads may mark your face and the pressure can get annoying after extended use, like when watching a movie.
