About this deal

The Pioneer DM-40’s are an excellent set of studio monitors. But they are not for everyone. If you are a bedroom DJ or want something better than computer speakers these are ideal. On the flip side, if you want to hear and analyze your latest musical creation in detail these will fall short. The amplifiers in the DJ DM 40 speakers are designed to ensure minimal levels of low distortion, even when cranking the volume. The tweeters and woofers are both aligned with each other so that there is no crossover between them. The Bluetooth module included on the DM-40 is simply for easier casual listening. Making the DM-40 an easier speaker to live with day to day, the inclusion of Bluetooth broadens the speakers appeal. Although we regularly used the Bluetooth connection with our phones and laptop we found the physical analogue cable sounded slightly better. The DM-40 also offers up lots of loudness. Great for plugging into your DJ controller for home practice sessions. They are not loud enough for a party but you shouldn’t be using studio monitors for these types of performances anyway. The sweet spot is not large enough to fill a room with even sound. Discover the uses of all the switches and dials on the speakers. Take a look at the various terminals for hooking up the speakers to your DJ gear, production equipment, or other devices. How to set up your DM-40 speakers The DM 40’s come in a pretty small size factor. They aren’t so tiny and light that this would be a selling point, but the speakers sure won’t crowd your room. All these features are combined in a compact design making the DM-40 the perfect match for DJing, producing and simply enjoying music at home. For a compact and cheap studio monitor the Pioneer DM-40’s have plenty going for them when it comes to sound quality.

Practically this means that the crisp sound quality does not decrease drastically depending on your location in the room. Front-Loaded Bass Reflex System The frontal curve edges are part of what contributes to the smooth and clear sound the speaker produces. Here’s how it works. These curved edges produce minimum resonance that’s important to creating the clear sound that the speaker makes. So how do they sound? Bassy, in a word. The sound is full, rounded, and the immediate impression is of a pair of speakers that sound bigger than they look. If anything, the treble is a little muted. The low end is most certainly accentuated on the Pioneer DM-40s. Whether that is good, depends on what you want from your monitors. What does stand out is that Pioneer succeeded in delivering on its promise of low distortion. Even as the speakers get quite loud, there is no noticeable harshness. When it comes to how it’s built, this speaker feels solid and firm. The speaker has a beautiful crescent diffuser to lead the high frequencies that nest around the bass driver. Furthermore, this speaker has two ports in the front. These ports ensure that you can mount the speaker next to a wall without effect. If you are looking for compact monitors there are some other options worth considering. Likewise, some interesting budget options challenge the DM-40’s when it comes to price. PreSonus Eris E3.5 Review The DM-40D-BTs are ideal for both DJing and producing music. There is a little switch on the DM 40D-BT speakers where you can choose DJ mode or music production mode. As a result, the DSP settings automatically alter and augment, leaving you to focus on the music. DM-40D-BT Connections The DM 40 Pioneer DJ’s speakers are front-ported, which minimizes the problematic crisp sound quality reflection issues of putting them too close to a rear wall.

The DM-40's ¾-inch soft dome tweeters are fitted with DECO convex diffusers that channel high frequencies in every direction. So you’ll enjoy a wide sweet spot and 3D stereo sound wherever you sit or stand. We’re passionate about the TV, hi-fi and home cinema products that we sell, but we also know that our customers have a lot of great ideas about what we should cover in our blog! They are not as lightweight as they may seem, but that is indeed beneficial. Many of the low-tier cabinets are made out of plastic, whereas the DM 40 speaker cabinets are made out of wood.

What Makes Us Different?

Great studio monitors are probably the most important sonic tool to help you create and shape your music – they are, essentially, your digital ears. While one will not experience the bliss of intricate sonic details, the overall good quality is impressive at such a low price. Pioneer DM 40: The Final Verdict The DM 40s come with two-meter long audio cables, power leads, and some foam cushions that act as miniature isolation pads.
