I do not hate Tove Jansson and this series has the reputation of being the most popular children's literature from Scandinavian countries. Sometimes they saw a mermaid dance by on the crest of the waves, sometimes they glimpsed a whole flock of little sea-trolls. This production was written by Emma Edwards and Sophie Ellen Powell with puppets and set designed and made by Annie Brooks. We were really shocked how this book must have hugely influenced Roald Dahl, this story pre dates charlie and the chocolate factory but has too many similarities to be a coincidence. The delightful Moomintrolls make it through catastrophe after catastrophe through cooperation and plain luck.

The book includes some of Jansson’s earliest artwork for the series, beautifully reproduced in sepia and black and white drawings throughout the Sort of Books edition.The third book, Finn Family Moomintroll, which was the first Moomin book translated into English, became the first international bestseller.

The family live in their house in Moominvalley and have had many adventures with their various friends.
