At home, our top quality Lava Stones are best heated either directly on the hob (or stove) for 20-30 mins or under the grill (broiler) as close to the element as you can go for 30-40mins. You can place the Real Steak Stone directly on the gas flame and heat, a temperature gauge is the only way to identify if you have the stone at the right temperature, however 30 - 40mins mins should do the job. Some of them advise you to lightly oil the stone before heating and some tell you to use salt on the stone while others do not.
