About this deal

Rachel's novels have now been translated into over 20 languages and have sold over 5 million copies. The two stories swirl apart and ultimately coalesce, raising disturbing issues of mental manipulation and control of a group’s collective psyche.

Tom Douglas is a character that has been well-developed through her books and as a reader, you have trust and belief in this character and his ability to fight for good, put his all into solving the case and being a lovable family man too. I’ve just finished this (an advanced copy) and once again Rachel has woven together a fantastic story. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get round to reading the Tom Douglas series by Rachel Abbott. India's story unfolds- the daughter of a woman who questions her purpose, wandering until she finds Aram. That name means nothing until Tom, Becky, Rob and Jumbo meticulously peel back the layers of her life to discover who she is and who would want her dead.

Slowly the author starts to reveal more about Martha and her past which is not a comfortable read, but the reader begins to understand why Martha is so terrified of being caught. As always the book centres around the victim of the crime and whilst this is a DCI Tom Douglas book, the story is primarily told through Martha. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. Learn nine essential ways to detox your mindset, feel lighter and more energised, to live a happier and more fulfilling life. Rachael Abbot has written this book in such a way as to create a work of fiction that is utterly believable….

Mixing the points of view of Martha and the police with some scenes from Martha’s past, we are able to build a clear picture of why Martha is on the run and what she stands to lose if she is caught. Once again Rachel Abbott has created an original story with a cast of characters who are either fascinating or downright despicable. How she gave you the insight of living within a cult gives you such an overwhelming sense of horror and disbelief that people can be trapped so easily into a situation without their realization of what is really happening to them! I was born and brought up in the north of England, and worked for many years as the managing director of an interactive media company. Rachel Abbott delivers another suspenseful and thought provoking book in her tenth DCI Tom Douglas series.

What appeals about this series, is that Tom Douglas and his team, although essential to the plot, are not the focal point. When Tom Douglas and his team arrive at the offices, a young woman, an employee of the firm, Martha Porter, flees, hoping to avoid speaking to the police. Thank you so much to Rachel Abbott for the arc of Close Your Eyes in exchange for a totally honest review.

This was followed by the number one bestselling novels The Back Road, Sleep Tight and Stranger Child,Nowhere Child (a short novel based on the characters from Stranger Child), Kill Me Again, The Sixth Window, Come a Little Closer, The Shape of Lies and Right Behind You. With Martha’s chapters told in the first person and the rest of the story in the third, I felt as though I were being drawn in to Martha’s world and as events unfolded I had more questions needing answers. This deeply personal and supportive series offers listeners an honest and relatable insight into how some the UK's best-known celebrities have coped with mental health difficulties, ranging from OCD to insomnia, addiction to grief, and depression to anxiety. The Greatest Secret, the long-awaited major work by Rhonda Byrne, lays out the next quantum leap in a journey that will take the listener beyond the material world and into the spiritual realm, where all possibilities exist. Then, of course, we have our eponymous hero Tom Douglas, the kind of policeman we would all want on our side.
