About this deal

When you have a pair of wireless buds that are brimming with great features, they can quite often let you down sonically. With this in mind, all the while knowing how small and lightweight the Vista earphones are, we weren’t expecting these buds to deliver the best in terms of audio performance. Among the most comfortable earbuds on the market, and all but indestructible, Jaybird Vista are true contenders in the ‘best wireless fitness buds’ race. The last thing you want when running or adventuring in the mountains is to be worrying about the durability of a pair of expensive, and small earbuds, but this is where Jaybird really stands out from the crowd. The Vista 2 are very easy to set up via Bluetooth, with or without the app. Do it without the app, and you can press the button inside of the case and wait for the lights on the outside of the case to start blinking to start the pairing process. We paired with a range of devices including phones (Android and iPhone), a laptop, the Hydrow connected rowing machine, a Garmin watch, and the Apple Watch. We had no issues with pairing and never suffered any kind of Bluetooth dropout. When it comes to personalised fit, the Vista 2 buds offer the same three Secure-Fit Eargels options (1/2/3 or S/M/L). As much as I don't like fiddling around with ear and wing tips, this integrated Eargel-approach certainly makes it harder to find the perfect fit for every ear. I appreciate that Jaybird is trying to make the process hassle-free, but considering how different people's ears are, it would be better to have an option to customise the ear tips and wing tips separately. Plus, I do appreciate the battery times, small size of the case (so much better than my Beats PowerBeat Pro), and the fact that the buds correctly settle in the case properly when I close it (again, something my Beats PowerBeat Pro doesn’t always do). If they can adjust, via firmware updates, the algorithm for wind reduction (I tried all the settings/options), then I’m totally game here.Battery life on the Vista is reasonably good. The six hour quoted live for the buds rang true during testing and is above average for a true wireless set. But the case’s 10 hour life is a little on the short side and means you’ll only get one full charge out of it before you need to reconnect it to the mains.

As far as I'm concerned, the bare minimum IP rating for any pair of wireless earbuds to be able to pass as workout earbuds is IPX4. This means that they at the very least splash resistant, and your sweat won't destroy them after a couple weeks of use. The Beats Fit Pro pass this test, but only barely — they have a IPX4 water-resistance rating. Added Find my Case: The case actually has GPS in it, but that only works when in range of Bluetooth The combination works a treat and means, while you can get better sounding true wireless, the Jaybird Vista are the best set available for their target audience. DesignCreate your own custom hearing profile preset – The Jaybird App also allows you to create your very own preset which is highly tuned to your specific hearing profile. When you choose to create your own preset, the app will run you through a test to see how well you hear a variety of tones, bass ranges, presence and brilliance. Once complete, you get your own personalized preset applied, which you can then tweak to further enhance your listening. I created my own preset but still prefer the sound of ‘The perfect balance’ preset – try it for yourself and let me know what you think of your custom preset! For steady paced jogs, fast runs, and home HIIT workouts, these buds simply don’t budge. Jaybird also offers a Find My Fit mode in its companion phone app to help you find the right tips to make sure they do the best job of staying put. Connectivity and Stability Issues: Some users have reported connection issues and intermittent drops in audio quality. These issues could potentially be improved in the next release by using newer Bluetooth technology. Sound quality is further improved and customized by using Jaybird’s in-app equalizer. More on the Jaybird App below. The updates don't stop there, though: the Vista 2 now has active noise cancelling (the OG Vista used passive noise cancelling only), a feature called 'SurroundSense' (a.k.a. ambient sound mode, let's noise in from your surroundings), better microphone performance (although still has two mics only) and longer battery life.
