About this deal

The LEGO® Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium set coincides with the club’s 120 th anniversary and the 75 th anniversary of the iconic grounds. The impressive set features over 5,800 pieces and has been designed to be the ultimate display piece for Real Madrid C.F. and LEGO fans — and to symbolise the spectacular pride felt by fans watching a match take place at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. Building any of these stadiums is akin in depth and detail, accuracy and authenticity to an Architecture set, and while they all sit within a similar style of design, the details between each set shape and create unique experiences to each. To that end, 10299 Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is the third stadium we are building and it is as interesting to do so as 10272 Old Trafford – Manchester United was, and more so than the quite repetitive-by-nature 10284 Camp Nou – FC Barcelona. Zooming in on some of the details, the 1×1 peaked roof tiles and transparent blue cheese slopes do an effective job of conveying the separation between stadium tiers and the luxury box suites. The “Real Madrid” logos feel a bit repetitive, but are authentic to the real stadium. Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is a loving, authentic recreation that dives deep into the details of the stadium and captures not only every aspect of architecture that makes it such a unique home, but also a sense of that history and wonder too. Which is a shame, because at its core, this is a marvellous, and beautifully designed architectural marvel, at a scale that you rarely see with LEGO. Throughout this, I couldn’t help but imagine if LEGO were to give the world’s Architecture wonders the same “stadium” treatment and just go all out.

Real Madrid Santiago Bernabeu Stadiumwill be released on1 March 2022 on LEGO.comor your local LEGO Store. It’s satisfying to say, three stadiums into this collection, that the way you think building 10299 Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium will go is probably not the way it will actually go. It’s these unusual and unexpected ways of putting together the stadium that also have a way of drawing you in further to understand exactly what detail you’ve just added – because of the risk of an otherwise formulaic, cookie-cutter build experience, 10299 Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is smart in ways other LEGO sets don’t have to be, and it’s all the better for it. If TLG is still able to turn a profit from mass-producing these expensive niche sets (that, presumably, only 6% of their potential customers would buy), then I guess they'll still continue to make these.

If the words El Clasico, Galacticos, Zinedine Zidane, Alfredo Di Stefano, Florentino Perez don’t mean anything to you, or if you live in a country where football is called soccer, this set likely isn’t for you. Thanks for reading my review of 10299 Real Madrid Santiago Bernabeu Stadium ahead of its 1 March 2022 release. Ahead of its release on 1 March 2022, here’s a review of 10299 Real Madrid Santiago Bernabeu Stadium to help you decide if this set is right for you.Real Madrid FC are one of the biggest football clubs in the world, if not the biggest, thanks to its incredible success in the Spanish La Liga, and Champions League, the most prestigious European club football tournament. Beyond those to have made their name at the stadium, its architecture is one typical of a modern football stadium, developed and redeveloped as the decades went by, with each stage of work adding a new chapter to the building’s appearance, functionality and character. th February 2022: Today the LEGO Group reveals a stunning homage to one of the most beloved football teams in the world — the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, a faithful replica of the home of Real Madrid. Then again, another thing I really like about this set is the significance of preserving the “old” Santiago Bernabeu at such an impressive scale. In a few years, the new Bernabeu will be unrecognisable, and with an ultra-modern steel look, I think Real Madrid fans who have a special connection with the stadium will look forward to owning and displaying this set as a memento of Real Madrid’s and the Bernabeu’s heyday. Last but not least, here’s a side by side comparison with Old Trafford– I’m a Manchester United fan, so it’s been hard to tear it apart and pop it into storage.

You build the Bernabeu in quadrants, ending with the roof, before connecting them all together with the use of Technic axels to keep them each half in place. Here’s the view of the front, and when completed, me and my wife were pretty happy with the result – the Bernabeu is a really stunning model, no thanks to its size, but also the repetitive features, and curves on the roof were particularly pleasing to the eye. None of that is reflected in the LEGO model, however, which instead recreates the Bernabéu as it stood before renovations began in 2019. That’s no real surprise given the lead time likely required to develop 10299 Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, and it does appear to capture all the details of the version of the stadium it’s aiming to portray. Would be nice to a Brazilian stadium someday, but unlikely to happen. Regarding their appeal, as some people are questioning why a third stadium set, I see the same from the Architecture sets. If it were for me, I would even more future similar releases to that theme. Innovation [4]– Some really incredible techniques used here, especially for the different tiers, and just how well everything fits with minimal gaps.

Warranty & disclaimers

It surprises me, though. I would have thought they'd continue to produce sets that appeal to a wider audience, as they usually do."
