His first rational thoughts were of Izzy even though she had spent the last few months seeing him while the FBI were investigating him and she was an FBI agent. When Clara spitefully tells Izzy that she and Isaac slept together, she decides to bring the matter up with Isaac, instead of listening to what he might have to say she storms out of their hotel room telling him it’s over. Oh my goodness! I feel that this series just gets better with this second story of the Enigma series. I just love Isabella more in this story. She tries her best to do what is right and look at the gray in life. She knowledges when she has done not handle everything the best way and tries to make it right. I love that about this character. I feel that I got to learn more about Isaac in this story, but I am hoping to learn even more in the next story. I did really like Hugo in this book. As far as I am concerned, Hugo is Isaac’s best asset in his empire. I love that he can talk candidly towards both Isaac and Isabelle. I loved both characters. Both were strong, independent equally in love. The story is told in both characters perspective alternately and it works beautifully to reveal the depth of love each has for the other. You know both their thoughts and the intensity of their love for each other as they deal with lifes issues that affect them. Usually, I hate when a heroine keeps something from the Hero that you know will only be worse the longer the information is withheld, but in this case, with the storyline, it works because their is a valid reason for it. I hope you enjoyed this little chit chat about the absolute monstrosity this book was. Now, at this point you may be wondering, “Natasha, if it was really this bad… why did you keep reading?”

This is the second book in the series. Book one is Enigma of Life (which was a fabulous read). I feel Shandi gets you caught up enough that you can read this without reading book one and not being lost. However...you will be very disappointed if you skipped it and knew what you were missing out on. Enigma of Life is just too good not to read. It took me a year to realize that this review would never be perfect. It would never fully encompass everything that this book means to me. It will never fully encompass what Isaac is and what he means to me, after all he is an Enigma 😉

I love that although the characters evolved and developed over the story they never changed completely they just became better versions of themselves. The twists in this book were just amazing – I didn’t know what was going to happen and to be honest I didn’t want to guess either. I was totally wrapped up in their story! Whilst I love standalone books usually because I want a conclusion fast but I also love a series and this is without doubt going to be an amazing series! I can’t wait to see where their story goes. holy shit. i think i start every review off when i say this but i was engrossed in this book. i could not put it down. the amount of spice in this book could satisfy me for a good month. i think i drooled a bit too much reading this book. this was my first shadi boyes book and obviously not my last (i’m almost done with book two in this series). This book might take the cake for the worst thing I’ve read in my life. Yes you read that right. So I read this book because of a TikTok with this quote
