About this deal
The spectacular sequel to Ajay and the Mumbai Sun, shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize! Bookwagon welcomes, Ajay and the Jaipur Moon to our readers, a welcome companion piece to Ajay and the Mumbai Sun. I loved 'Ajay and the Mumbai Sun' and was delighted when the follow up, 'Ajay and the Jaipur Moon' was published.
Ajay chased it down, ducking past the railway guard blowing his whistle, around a woman in a midnight-blue sari glittering with tiny mirrors, and through two boys, playing with plastic rockets, to catch it. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. It's laugh out loud funny and yet touching in just the right way, a roller coaster that leaves you feeling satisfied. There is also much to be discussed in class, for instance, the language used when talking about colonising the moon, plus altruism, capitalism and Doing the Right Thing.
Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling. Alongside a cracking detective story, we’ve characters who depend upon each other and whom we care for. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Ajay is an incredible character and as the twists and turns of the fast-paced plot unfold in the most dramatic way you feel like you're part of this ingenious gang. Getting to Jaipur is just the beginning - because waiting for them is an opponent with a terrifying ambition.
We've been waiting for the next instalment of Ajay's adventures in our house since we fell in love with the first book (short-listed for the Waterstones prize). There is lots of action and some nail-biting, tech-inspired plot twists, and the book is divided into short, easy-to-absorb chunks for young readers.
