About this deal

Hsu, Hsin-mei Agnes (2009). "Structured Perceptions of Real and Imagined Landscapes in Early China". In Raaflaub, Kurt A.; Talbert, Richard J. A. (eds.). Geography and Ethnography: Perceptions of the World in Pre-Modern Societies. John Wiley & Sons. pp.44–45. ISBN 9781444315660.

Over history, many parts of Southern China remained independent of the influence of China Proper, having their own distinct histories, cultures, and languages. Southern China is warm and rainy enough for rice and consists of lush mountains cut by river valleys as its mentioned in the map of Southern China. Southern China is mountaineous, and people are divided by various southern dialects such as Cantonese, Min-language, Wu-language, where are mutually unintelligible with Mandarin language. The Gall-Peters projection does have it flaws with certain places appearing stretched, horizontally near the poles and vertically near the Equator. AuthaGraph Projection The Shengjiao Guangbei Tu was a world map. It contained not only China but also Africa and Europe. Luo's copy and the Daming Hunyi Tu suggest that the original depicted India more accurately than the Korean adaptation although it is also possible that the Daming Hunyi Tu reflects 17th century knowledge. In contrast to the previous three “real” world maps we looked at, we have one which is most similar to the China world map because it is centred on the Pacific Ocean.

Amap, pronounced Gaode in Chinese, is owned by Alibaba which is one the country’s biggest tech firms. Shiji by Sima Qian, which included a wealth of geographical material thanks to the travels of Zhang Qian in Central Asia But, there have been some notable attempts that are beginning to be embraced instead of the Mercator projection.

Chinese writing is notoriously difficult to decipher, so you’ll need to be patient as you try to marry up the street sign with what’s showing on your app. And, with Apple’s Indoor Maps, you can get detailed directions inside major Chinese airports including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. It’s pretty cool. The Kangxi Emperor of the Qing dynasty (1644–1912) realised that Chinese maps were not accurate enough and required scientific methods for mapping, so he sponsored a national wide geodesy and mapping programme based on astronomical observation and triangulation measurements. The map, which is called Huang Yu Quan Lan Tu (also known as the Jesuit Atlas), took over 10 years to complete from 1708. It was also the first on-the-spot survey map. It had 41 framings based on provincial boundaries and has the following characteristics: If you’re in a taxi (or a DiDi – China’s version of Uber), the app can factor in real‑time traffic data. This includes the current speed limit, so you’ll know exactly how long until you arrive.China Provinces: Anhui, Fujian, Gansu, Guangdong, Guizhou, Hainan, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Jilin, Liaoning, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shandong, Shanxi, Sichuan, Taiwan, Yunnan, and Zhejiang. The string of incomprehensible letters and numbers in the above heading are the two ways that the world processes location data relayed to us by the satellites orbiting our planet. China uses the one on the right (GCJ-02) and most of the rest of the world uses the one on the left (WGS-84).
