Hello, it's Robin Cooper here. How are you? I'm in fine fettle. In fact, so fine a fettle am I in, that I've just whistled thrice.

Contentious material about living people that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately. Let's say that the history of correspondence as literature began with Cicero, proceeded to the mash notes of Abelard and Heloise, and took on new dimensions with such epistolary novels as Pamela, Les Liaisons Dangereuses and Dracula. High points of recent decades include the The Groucho Letters (where Mr. Marx waggles a virtual cigar at the likes of T.S. Eliot and Harry S. Truman) and last year's Letters of Noel Coward, which went to print bearing two letters faked by a charismatic felon whose memoir appears on this list. In December 2008, Robert set up his own production company, Popper Pictures, to make comedy TV shows.

Robert Popper is a writer, producer and performer, best known for creating the Channel 4 smash hit comedy, Friday Night Dinner, as well as the award-winning spoof BBC2 science show, Look Around You. He has worked on many of Britain’s top comedy shows including Peep Show, The Inbetweeners, The IT Crowd and Stath Lets Flats, as well as writing on South Park. The Timewaster Letters was a big hit and received endorsements from many celebrities. The reason? It’s bloody funny and ridiculous. I can't believe I have not reviewed this book. This is the funniest book I have ever read, superseding Monty Python's Big Book. I fought for oxygen the first time I read this, literally and physically. There are parts of this book that are hilarious with a capital 'Hil'. The section on paint colours, birdbox and mayoral maces I use in times of therapy, it is much cheaper than professional help. Cooper's letters are obvious, shrill and unfunny which probably explains why the replies are similarly leaden and flat. He is the classroom wag and the cheeky chappie on the playground but he is nowhere near publishable meterial. In donaldson's hands the spoofs would have been smooth parodies of the skill of craig brown. As well as inhabiting the skin of his hi-pitched alter-ego, Robert Popper co-created Look Around You with Peter Serafinowicz, produced the third and fourth series of Peep Show, and a whole lot more.

A new audio version of Robert Popper's hit prank books The Timewaster Letters and Return Of The Timewaster Letters has been recorded. There’s always plenty of violence at the BBC! If it’s violence you’re after then I recommend Series 2 and 3 of Bottom from the 1990s. Otherwise, recent show such as Blue Planet II are a tad more peaceful. I also recommend Mark Kermode’s film review show on BBC radio. As for Peep Show, that wasn on Channel 4 over here, I’m afraid. It’s probably on YouTube illegally as well, though! There are a few moments that raised the odd smile – I liked his letter to the Halibut Society, for instance, and I did laugh out loud once (but only once – and I forget why). The humour here though just doesn’t work. Cooper simply tries too hard to be funny and it comes out forced, obvious and looking a little pathetic. In an attempt at making the recipients look foolish, all he actually manages to do is to make himself look like a childish, attention seeking, asinine idiot and in actual fact, the beneficiaries come out of this remarkably well. okay okay I admit it I'm cheating a little bit I didn't read this book but the audiobook of the compilation of the three books but after getting to the end of book one I just couldn't do anymore. I felt like I deserved some credit for what I did get through and there is no audiobook for book one by itself so here I am. I found it rather silly than funny. Robins letters are often so silly that it must be apparent to the companies and organisations that it must have been clear to them that they were the subject of a joke made on their behalf.
