About this deal

And when it comes to the D or O shape, you’ll probably feel more at home with one than the other, based on the shape you’ve spent more time with. My hand is permanently molded around a Microsoft IntelliMouse shape now, so the O feels like home. If you spent your formative years with an asymmetrical shape, the D is better suited. And if you don’t like RGB, Zowie’s FK range is still your best bet. Its a really good mouse, great sensor, light, feels great in hand, only thing id worry about is build quality, obvs because its perforated, it would probably break after having a heavy textbook dropped on it. But if you don't really put your mouse in those type of situations then you're good. The final con, SQUEAKY SCROLL WHEEL. I’m a bit angry because I paid 4K for this only to develop a scroll wheel problem in 1 week. Other’s wont be as bothered as me, but if I’m paying good money for a mouse I want it to work perfectly in all ways. Now even with headphones on I can hear this scroll wheel going SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK and it’s annoying as hell, rant over. When you're looking to switch out your skates, you’ll need to choose replacements that fit your specific model of mouse due to each mouse having a different layout on its base where the skates are installed. The exception being brands who use the same mouse chassis for multiple models, but that will be mentioned on the skates product description. Less visually appealing is the branding on the Model D-. The snooty reputation of the so-called Glorious PC Gaming Race is embodied through a picture of its mascot where your thumb goes, as well as on the mouse’s underside. There’s also a more forgivable and smaller “Glorious” stamp on the right side.

You can use the spudger or knife on its own without using the hairdryer, especially if you're unsure of how long to heat the feet up by. This may leave traces of glue on the bottom of the mouse however, which will need to be removed before attaching the new mouse feet. Unfortunately, the indicator light that alerts you to what CPI setting you’re using is on the mouse’s underside. This can be a real pain if you like to switch between two settings for assault rifles and sniper rifles, for example, or keep a super-low DPI for railgunning in Quake. You can get around this by setting all six steps available to one of two values. Skates, on day 1, are INSANELY smooth and I just want to move it around a lot the whole day because of how satisfying the glide feels compared to my old mouse. Once you have your replacement mouse skates in hand, it's now time to remove your old ones from the base of the mouse. There are a few different methods to do this, but we’ll cover the main, most reliable method (in our opinion): For me, the design is as much an aesthetic choice as anything else. I can't tell you how much weight the mouse loses because of the holes, or whether they make a meaningful impact on its movement. I can tell you that it looks sharp and interesting. We did not notice any lag, stutter or drops in the wireless performance, and the sensor was able to keep up with our erratic movements with ease. There was also no discernible difference between the wireless and wired mode, either. Finally, once the grip tape is properly applied, use a sharp hobby knife or scissors to trim any excess grip tape from around the edges of your mouse. Trimming the edges gives your mouse a clean and finished look.

The scroll wheel in this model, as with other Glorious mice, has a notched scroll style and doesn’t feature inputs by nudging it to either side. It proved well-suited to shooters too. In these games, you want clearly defined scroll inputs for changing weapons or zoom levels but don’t want to accidentally fire off your special with a heavy-handed nudge. Before applying the grip tape, it is essential to clean your mouse to remove any dirt or oils that may interfere with the grip tape's adhesion. Use a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol to gently clean the surface of your mouse, taking care not to damage the coating. Make sure to remove all the dirt and oil residues, especially around the edges of your mouse. Let’s start by stating the obvious: The Model D- isn’t the perfect mouse for trying to run a World of Warcraft raid or fly a plane in the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. Its six-button layout is intended very much for shooters, and it’s in shooters where our testing primarily lies. With a little preparation and some simple steps, you can enjoy better control and performance like the pros. With the Model D, Glorious PC Gaming Race shows that it knows what's most important about making a great gaming mouse. It needs to feel good in your hand. It needs to be sturdy and reliable. It should be powerful enough that you never see the upper limits of what it can do. Don't get me wrong, I love the bells and whistles of more feature-rich mice (wireless connectivity, extra inputs, and all that), but the most important thing is that you nail the fundamentals.

When Less Is More

Glorious has long been renowned for its excellent gaming pedigree. Therefore, when they used their groundbreaking Model D mouse as a blueprint, I knew this iteration would be special. However, I was still amazed by the technical aspects! The gripes here are pretty miniscule. There’s some button wobble if you really look for it, and a DPI indicator on the underside of the mouse. But there’s also the issue of the manufacturer branding, which shouldn’t go completely without mention. Unlike the subreddit name, the “Master” has been dropped from Glorious PC Gaming Race’s name, but that doesn’t mean it’s free of the same tasteless connotations. It felt uncomfortable when the first Glorious mice arrived and still does. If you’re looking for something with less heavy branding, the HK Gaming Mira-M offers a similar, lightweight gaming experience while being ambidextrous.

Software has all you need, though the lowest you can go is 400 DPI and some people who moved from Logitech like me used to use 200/350 DPI have to adapt to 400. Looks drop-dead gorgeous, especially when I put single-color purple on, it matches the white beautifully. At the same time, other areas are more limited than what you get with a mouse from a big-name brand. For instance, the software offers only a small number of lighting patterns and effects. You can create custom profiles with different DPI presets, button mapping, and so on, but can't sync profiles to specific games and apps. Likewise, the Model D has no onboard memory, so you can't easily bring your profiles with you, though you can export and transfer them externally. It All Starts With the Basics Don’t let competitors fool you with inflated stats on low-quality switches. Model D comes with state-of-the-art Omron switches, with the highest durability rating and quality control standards. The Model D will outlive other inferior gaming mice.
