About this deal

I can’t think of any good reason for this handicap other than Fujifilm looking to ensure continued film sales. Both tactile and satisfying, turn the Lens Ring on the Mini Evo to cycle through the 10 lens effects. Data privacy and security practices may vary based on your use, region and age The developer provided this information and may update it over time. maximum aperture makes shooting in very low light possible, and provides pleasing bokeh (the out-of-focus portion of a photo) with its 7-blade aperture design--ideal for dramatic portraits.

This method allows you to shoot freely and print whenever desired or reprint an image as many times as desired. While it may look like leather on chrome from a distance, it’s actually formed almost entirely from plastic. Simply transfer your shots onto your smartphone for sharing with the digital world – the instax frame even transfers too! For all intents and purposes, it's a slightly snazzier version of the Instax Mini LiPlay, only it's bigger and (to my eye) not as cool to look at, despite being designed as an aesthetics-first camera. In this time he shot for clients like Aston Martin Racing, Elinchrom and L'Oréal, in addition to shooting campaigns and product testing for Olympus, and providing training for professionals. The Kodak Mini Shot 2 Retro and the Kodak Mini Shot 2 are also good quality instant cameras that are worth checking out.

OK, we all know it’s textured plastic but it doesn’t feel tacky and it’s still lightweight enough for you to chuck in your bag for the day without weighing you down. I spent a lot of time printing images from my phone, images that would have otherwise stayed locked in that digital tomb forever (or at least until I got around to having them printed professionally – so, likely never).I would never have attempted this pear photo shoot with a Polaroid camera, or with my Fuji SQ1, a camera which I love, simply because it’s so expensive to waste film. The instax mini Evo in brown is a hybrid instant camera and smartphone printer with a sharp analogue-style design and lots of amazing creative options. Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery is used to power the camera and supports printing up to approximately 100 images per charge.

Instax Mini film may not look as good in full resolution on your laptop, but they’re decent enough to post on your Instagram feed. Similar control on a boutique instant camera will cost a lot ( I’m thinking MiNT’s machines), or if I tried it on an older Polaroid with exposure control the photos simply won’t be as vivid (Polaroid film just isn’t as good as Fuji’s Instax these days), or the camera will be heavy (something like the Nons instant cameras could do it, but they’re bigger and heavier than the Mini Evo). You can throw on a bunch of filters and effects within the app, but if you're anything like us you'll skip the gimmicks. Intentional chromatic aberration, mirrored imagery, vivid film simulations, lower exposure, lower saturation, artificial light leaks – the list goes on and on. It takes digital photos, allows us to apply filters and lens effects to these photos, and then gives us the freedom to decide whether or not we want to instantly print those photos.

And while I got proper excited when I saw the Evo first appear, after using one I decided that it would be the first Instax I wouldn't add to my collection. Instant film photographers who have used a Fuji Instax or Polaroid camera in the past will instantly understand what to do to make a picture, and anyone who’s used a digital camera with an LCD and menu buttons will understand, too.

You can also adjust the exposure, alter white balance, turn the flash on and off, or even select Macro mode for those super-detailed close-ups. While the Mini Evo isn’t Fujifilm’s first crack at a hybrid instant camera, it is the first to lean into such an old-school design. Too many come in off-putting toy-like designs and garish colours, and while they may be fun – you’ve probably enjoyed snapping away with these at a wedding after six glasses of natty wine – they don’t feel cool or creative. But it was the first couple of months that I realized I like the uncertainty that comes with the instant film cameras, and having to pull the fake film lever when I decide whether I want the photo printed or not made me not wanting to pull it every single time. There’s also a throw-back film advance lever which, when cocked, initiates the film printing process. The mini Evo is packed with 10 lens modes controlled by the ring around the 28mm lens, and 10 film effects selected by the top dial.
