From the age of six Lempicka was fascinated by wonderlands full of princesses and sumptuous dresses. She was also inspired by fashion magazines like Marie Claire, by designers such as Coco Chanel, by poets like Jean Cocteau and painters like Matisse and Modigliani. I couldn’t accuse the young woman , although I knew she had taken the perfume (the next morning she came to work wearing it).

Unfortunately, this never worked on my skin as whenever I tried it the powder and vanilla would be so overwhelming on me that it would end up smelling like incense. Interestingly, it wasn't until years later after having worn this and several other of my loves, I became aware many of my favorites were created by Annick Menardo. Sometimes it's sort of phenolic and sometimes it's almost bubblegummy, I think because of the citrus top notes in that one. That liquorice, that cherry, that star anise and that vanilla are the perfumed dream of the gluttonous gnomes This purple apple has uncontrollable magic.
