About this deal

AH-D7200 has a 6.3mm Single Ended connector o their long cable, so it is recommended to pair them with desktop DAC/AMPs like Singxer SDA-2, Soundaware A1X PRO, Rebel Audio Rebel AMP, or the AAdac from Audio Analogue.

Rivals do offer a more transparent and accurate performance, though, which stops the Denon flagship headphones from reaching full five stars. This is just a slight improvement which I believe suits most of the genres out there and mainly it makes these headphones sound really good, amazing IMO.

Why is Denon AH-D7200 better than Focal Elegia?

Denon has been in the headphone game for 50 years, and it shows. Incredible aesthetics, perfect build, and incredible bass - what’s not to love? Hey guys, I have tried to play with the EQ for the Denon D7200. I had issues to actually install and run the Equalizer APO for my new DAC but it was down to the missing drivers. The APO is a great software to EQ the whole system rather than just music player or other software. It can enable by itself as soon as you turn on your computer, great stuff. These drivers are made from a nanofiber material - a material that was chosen for its rigidity and low mass. They are mounted onto custom-made resin baffles, designed to eliminate all vibrations being transferred to the cup. As I started listening, the bass made me feel nostalgic. Just like the older Fostex/Denon flagships, it’s visceral, deep, driving, and powerful, but delicately controlled.

The good news doesn’t end there, either. The headband isn’t just some plastic strap - it’s solid aluminium, with both natural sheepskin leather on the outside, and stitched engineered leather on the inside. This is a huge part of the reason why so many people have loved the Denon flagship series for so long. The AH-D7200 is a good example of true audiophile bass and some of the best I’ve ever heard in a dynamic headphone.Oh, in case you were wondering: The AH-D7200 doesn’t fold, or flatten. And why should they? They look spectacular and should be sitting proudly on your shelf, not stored away in a bag somewhere.

I am also considering ZMF Pilot Pad but I can see its a bit too wide and I might have to fill it in with something to make it more wider. With the AH D7200, Denon brings a similar design from its previous model and expands on its depth. There are more inconsistencies with the sound signature, especially in the mids, but it shines with its extension and more immediate grasp on the sound. I’m not certain this is a substantial upgrade from the D5200, but it will definitely be one to choose for its level of intricate layering and textured response. Pros Although they are 25 Ohm only, they do benefit greatly from powerful & quality sources, amps and dacsThe B&W P9s may have an exuberant low-end, but they handle rhythm and dynamics with greater accuracy and control. They’ve got more punch. And they get across the true intent of a song more faithfully than the Denons. According this thread, the sound can be improved by some custom work / modding but me personally I would not go this way. On the other side, I would love to compare the original sound with the modded one. They are some good articles in this thread on how to do this. This can leaks some sound but it offers great passive isolation, shutting out quite a bit of external noise.
