Nowadays that most perfumes have this ethereal unisex character A900 has gained a new position and has something different to offer.

I've always considered it a Monday through Friday, 9 to 5 scent although in my fragrance wardrobe it also serves my casual side. It is however rather a generic scent “signature” as has been around for so long I guess it has mingled with so many other popular scents over time, thus lost its uniqueness. With pronounced floral top notes and stronger initial sillage than my normal fragrances, Aramis 900 took a short while to grow on me and for me to be comfortable with it. A civet accord (or more often accent) wasn't always meant to be aggressively animalic to begin with and is poorly understood. Aldehydes (that hairspray smell) and Patchouli is what I get on first spray quickly followed dusty roses and moss.A900’s basenotes, which definitely include a healthy dose of patchouli (as in AE) are modulated by vetiver. The initial application of Aramis 900 seems strong and harsh at first, but it dries down and softens immensely. Opening the greenhouse door on a cold spring morning, I was blasted by a warm, steamy cloud infused with the scent of ferns, roses and carnations. The current formula lasts around 6 hours on my skin compared to the 4 hours of the vintage, although it could be explained by ageing of the basenotes in my vintage causing a loss of their potency.

My initial disappointment arose from trying to discover more layers, some kind of counterbalance, some woodiness, spiciness, musky or resinous base.The names used are only as a reference to the fragrance and we are in no way affiliated or connected with these brands. I wouldn't be surprised if Paloma got her inspiration for her namesake scent from this one, just amped up a lot more. In my memory , Devin was louder , more herbal , "grassier" than Aliage, more pine , it smelt the thick green grass , whereas Aliage is drier ( to my nose ) . It has obviously changed over the years, and definitely some of the notes have changed, but this one has faired well.
