About this deal

It’s impossible to see the bolt head that you targeting with a wrench through the tiny hole in the neoprene, so I still blindly stick one hand in a mitt to help guide it into the bolt. Nylon faced wind-block fleece, with something to stiffen and sustain the shape or a combination of neoprene, nylon, fleece. The other major, general benefit of pogies is that since you can wear much thinner gloves in the Mitts, you have improved dexterity of the controls when compared to thicker winter gloves. Montreal winters are cold and wet, to say the least, and the temperatures fluctuate constantly between 0 and -40ºC without a warning, not to mention all the snow we get. Originally from The Netherlands, she grew up a bike commuter and didn't find bike racing until her early twenties when living in Seattle, Washington.

Bar Mitts provide an alternative that promises to keep hands warm when they’re resting on the brake hoods, but still let riders easily grab food, water bottles, or other items. The main disadvantage of the Mitts is that the only hand position that provides fast access to the brake and integrated shift levers is on the brake hoods. Want to hear from the other side before committing to bar mitts, since no one took my Christmas hints!I actually like my Bar Mitts so much that I have started to keep them on my bike for any rides under 45 degrees (much to the chagrin of my friends, family, and dog).

They keep hands warm while riding and allow cyclists to wear regular lightweight cycling gloves and increase dexterity even in the coldest weather.Double stitching along the folded seams creates a wind tight seal, and a heavy duty zipper (for externally routed cables) should hold up to years of abuse.

They definitely help in the Wisconsin winter; in fact, anything above about 30 degrees and I find I have to wear normal (summer) mountain bike gloves to keep my hands dry. Layering helped a little but often forced me to stop, remove the top layer, ride some more until the hands started getting cold again, put the top layer back on, etc. Reach in and push the plug into the end of your handlebars (having already removed any bar end plugs).

gets cold enough to start compromising good function of grease, suspension forks, and the DOT fluid in hydro brakes. But with the growing popularity of fat bikes and winter riding, many cold-weather cyclists have found that pogies work just as well on their handlebars. The neoprene material of the Bar Mitts kept the rain and wind off my hands, so I believe that my hands were much warmer than they would have been in gloves alone.
