About this deal
The predisposition of the investigators towards laying the blame firmly at the parents door will leave readers in no doubt that this is definitely not a random snatch by a stranger. this book was more confusing than mysterious or thrilling, and i ended up just really not caring about what happened.
The intense focus on the the investigation itself means that all we really learn about Adam Fawley is that he and his wife have also, at some point and in circumstances not revealed until the end of the book, lost a child. This in turn, results in anger and threats of violence, and it becomes even more imperative that DI Fawley and his team discover the whereabouts of Daisy. In an investigation fraught with difficulties even establishing an approximate time for Daisy’s disappearance is not without complications and as the now de rigueur trial by Twitter ensues public vitriol incites a backlash against Barry and Sharon the fear of vigilante reprisal attacks adds to the pressure on DI Fawley and his team.
I loved how every character was given a significant part in the story, I loved the unorthodox personality of the mother, although, I really want to give her a piece of my mind most of the time merely because of how annoying she is. I've always been a voracious reader and viewer of crime - I've learned so much from the outstanding writing that we now see on crime TV like Line of Duty or Broadchurch, and I've tried to recreate the experience of watching series like that for my readers. One of my favourite parts is just how well Adam's police team worked, their absolute commitment to the case and how they support one another.A whodunit but one that deals with some difficult issues that will have you guessing right up to the end. With a story that feels all too real, Close to Home is the best kind of suspense--the kind that sends chills down your spine and keeps you up late at night, thrilled and terrified.
