This distillery was born when a group of friends and experienced bar tenders from central London decided to pool their knowledge, move to the Southwest and start a distillery. Having all gained extensive experience in the hospitality industry, and drinks world, they have managed to successfully produce numerous gins and spirits, and the team at Pocketful of stones continues to expand! This unique addition to the Pocketful of Stones range is served from a copper flask engraved with the scenery, wildlife, folklore, and history that surrounds them. My rule of life prescribed as an absolutely sacred rite smoking cigars and also the drinking of alcohol before, after and if need be during all meals and in the intervals between them.

Producer’s Story: Pocketful of Stones, the talented team behind Dr Squid Gin, draws inspiration from the rugged beauty of the Cornish coast. Our Midsummer Gin has a slight green hint to it from the natural ingredients being used (no sign of essences being used here!

The gin is a savoury Mediterranean style gin, from coriander, sea buckthorn and squid ink, a smooth full mouth feel from vanilla and a slight spice, pepper. Love this fresh unique and quirky tasting gin, definitely a real talking point where it pours blue and then changes to pink with tonic, love it. Vanilla was added to the base of the recipe to give a well rounded mouthfeel and perceived sweetness , coupled with sea buckthorn for a tart, fresh fruit finish. Squid ink is so powerful that just a bit is needed to give a gin its distinctive colour and flavour.

If you like the idea of a colour change gin, grab a bottle of Six Dogs Blue or Piston Rose and Lychee.
