I know that others, besides myself, must have watched that film, but they seem to be few and far between. Dick's celebrated novel of an alternate America, in which the Axis powers triumphed in World War II. A novel needs to be more than just words and ideas; it needs to be a journey or some sort for the reader as much as the characters involved. There are twelve I Ching readings in the book that push the story in various directions, and in fact Dick used the I Ching as a plotting device.

Perhaps PKD is telling us indirectly he is making a similar claim in his The Man in the High Castle.A few weeks into his trial, van Meegeren confessed: the Vermeer was a forgery, a fake he had painted to fool Göring and the Nazi art experts.
