About this deal

They have different panel types, so while the Samsung has wider viewing angles, the Gigabyte has a better contrast for deeper blacks. This makes it a useful and usable mode, we would have just liked to have seen a slightly tighter control over the gamut coverage for that extra level of accuracy. We tested the 32-inch Samsung Odyssey G7, and except for the resolution and size, the results are also valid for the 27-inch model, known as the Samsung Odyssey G7 27. We have deliberately not included luminance in this comparison since this is normally far too high by default on every screen.

If you want a 32-inch monitor with much better viewing angles, then check out the Corsair XENEON 32QHD165. Its 32-inch screen offers you enough space to multitask with different windows open, and you see plenty of detail thanks to its 4k resolution. The ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q and the Samsung Odyssey G7 C32G755T are great monitors with excellent gaming performance. Without local dimming, there's noticeable backlight bleed, and we took a high exposure photo to exaggerate what it looks like, but it isn't really what you see in person. If you want better dark room performance, go with the Samsung because it can produce much deeper blacks. As the recommended overdrive setting is 'Standard', you won't have to adjust the overdrive setting if the frame rate of your game drops. While the Samsung has a local dimming feature, which the LG doesn't have, it performs terribly and doesn't offer any advantages.

The joystick also gives quick access to the brightness/sharpness/contrast options, the input selection menu and the volume control which is handy. It also has a local dimming feature, which the Gigabyte doesn't have, but it doesn't add much because it performs terribly. The C32G75T has a higher 240Hz refresh rate compared to 165Hz on the S27AG50, and it has a curved screen with a VA panel and a high contrast.

For PC connectivity the DisplayPort is the most common option, with HDMI being available then for connecting external games consoles or Blu-ray players potentially. We have divided the table up by panel technology as well to make it easier to compare similar models. It has a higher refresh rate of 240Hz compared to the ASUS' 170Hz, but the difference might not be noticeable to casual gamers. The white point was also now improved to 6511k which was great news, although out of the box there had been minimal deviance there of only 2% being slightly too warm. In terms of its gaming performance, the Dell has better motion handling with less smearing behind fast-moving objects, but the Samsung has a backlight strobing feature that the Dell doesn't have.

This lighting can be turned on/off in the OSD, and you can also set it to only show the back lighting and not the front if you want. CIE Diagram – confirms the colour space covered by the monitors backlighting in a 2D view, with the black triangle representing the displays gamut, and other reference colour spaces shown for comparison. In spite of paying attention and showing great sensitivity when providing the information, we can not guarantee 100% accuracy. However, the Gigabyte is more versatile for other uses as it has a USB-C port and a KVM switch for productivity. The Samsung has a higher refresh rate, 240Hz compared to the Dell's 165Hz, and its response times are significantly faster, resulting in clearer images in fast-moving scenes.Samsung have now released their new “Odyssey” line-up of screens, boasting high 240Hz refresh rates in a range of sizes and with some impressive additional specs.
