However, the TV's input lag performance is tremendous, leading to an extremely responsive gaming experience. Added to this are reasonable black levels, with good shadow detail, accurate colours and excellent skin tones, with decent motion for SDR and HDR content. With advanced Hands-Free voice control combined to Google Assistant, TCL's Android TV makes life smart and simple.nits and above content track the same on the TCL, so there will be more clipping of that content where it is in HDR10. Otherwise, the TV supports every variable refresh rate (VRR) technology for nearly tear-free gaming from any source. Its Quantum Dot technology also gives it an impressively wide color gamut for HDR content, although it doesn't have very accurate color reproduction.
It's hard to notice the degradation in image quality of the resolution halving unless you're looking for it, making this one of the cheapest TVs capable of gaming at 120Hz. It's also easy to sideload unofficially supported apps on Google TV, so overall, the platform offers the widest selection of streaming apps available on any smart TV. For an immersive audio experience, Dolby Atmos surround sound can make it feel like you are amid the action. Stick to a normal room environment with some ambient lighting and when watching directly onto the screen the TCL gives a very good account of itself picture-wise. On TCL TV’s, 4K HDR PRO combined with quantum dot provides a superior High Dynamic Range (HDR) experience delivering accurate colours and finest details.There is a difference in brightness across the panel with clouding seen when viewing in a dark room, but this does look better once you add in ambient lighting. There are a lot of ways to get the best HDR picture quality on TV: HDR10, HDR HLG, HDR10+ , HDR DOLBY VISION and DOLBY VISION IQ. The TV is also over-brightened on most of its PQ EOTF curve, so overall, there are better choices for people who want their TVs to respect the content creator's intent. For PC gamers, the TV has issues outputting anything above 120Hz when connected to an NVIDIA graphics card, so it's better suited for PCs with AMD GPUs.
