About this deal

No longer is Bunny all fluffy and kind, now he has a flak helmet and a rocket launcher strapped to his back. Both the original Birthday Bunny and Alix’s adaptation are so convincingly realised, down to the illustration style and colour palette of the ‘original’ and its frayed edges, and the naïve anarchy of the inscribed story, that I can imagine unwary library staff being dismayed at the inspired felt pen crossings out and additions.

looks like everyone forgot it was his birthday because they have other things going on in their lives, which might be for the best, because i think a bear's present to a bunny would be a trip to digestion alley. Next we explored the scribbles --- evidently someone named Alex had received the book from his grandmother for his birthday (there is an inscription on the inside front cover), wasn't too happy, and decided to make it into a completely new story. Today is a special day for Battle Bunny as he starts plotting to take over the world by cutting down all of the trees in the forest!

Overall, we were fascinated and completely entertaining by this truly unique concept book and we really enjoyed reading it together. Both a fun story that most young children will enjoy for its irreverence, and also a sly critique on contemporary literacy. The way that Alex inserts himself into the modified story reminds me of the Chester books by Mélanie Watt. When it comes to defending humanity against the Primordians, nobody knows better than Battle Bunny Tibbers how to fight like an animal! Definitely one for reluctant readers who might like to see that books are not always what they are seen as being.

Bought for my Grandson, did find it disjointed because of the way it was written, he enjoyed it ,definitely not a favourite at present. that’s something to be looked at, and the experience becomes, and Everly increasing frustration and ugly experience.I must admit that I enjoyed the “Battle Bunny” story a bit more than the “Birthday Bunny” story because well, the “Birthday Bunny” story is your typical “main character is celebrating their birthday with their friends” plot, while the “Battle Bunny” story is full of awesome moments of Battle Bunny battling his enemies while that was the story that was being written over the “Birthday Bunny” story with childlike drawings being drawn all over the pages! Battle Bunny looks for all the world like a run-of-the-mill, bland and slightly sentimental early reader which its boy owner has outgrown and which he has imaginatively and extensively altered to tell a story that he finds much more exciting and in which he has a starring role. There are two stories running at the same time and even as an adult reader I found the book a little confusing.

and Chloe and the Lion (both illustrated by Adam Rex), and The New York Times bestseller Extra Yarn (9781406352481). and Chloe and the Lion (both illustrated by Adam Rex), and the New York Times bestseller Extra Yarn. Now that all that hype has died down, can we recognize what a good thing it is that she didn't get that skin? Alex has vastly improved what once was a limp tale about a bunny that thinks everyone has forgotten his very special day. The game does have some bugs and balancing issues but the developer is actively updating, fixing issues and adding new things.Bunnies may be able to fight with a cat or a dog, but can they beat a powerful tiger or a giant elephant?
