About this deal

The dynamic look of Art Deco was inspired by cubism, futurism and the Bauhaus movement with references to ancient cultures such as the Aztecs and Egyptians. After being asked many times how to make them, he thought he would produce a book to teach others how to make them.

Of all the materials used by our forefathers wood was undoubtedly the most common but is the least represented in museums today. It gives you proper posture support, lumber support, advanced features for adjusting headrest, armrest, seat, height of chair and many more features available in ergonomic chairs. Other chairs have reached iconic status simply through their everydayness: think of Van Gogh's chair, or the way Shaker chairs have become emblematic of a simpler and purer lifestyle. After all, the human body is more suited to sitting on the ground than on a chair, and some chairs even cause back problems.

Their aim in producing this book is to extend the knowledge and appreciation of these important items of the Welsh folk art tradition. Drawing on design and art, popular culture and personal experience, Chair is an engaging biography of this everyday object, and will appeal to anyone interested in why we choose to sit on the chairs we do. Sean's book contains over 400 colour photographs and illustrations to demonstrate all stages and processes of making, using, and celebrating these traditional wood-braking devices. Second hand furniture and accessories are not only unique, characterful and nostalgic, but also contribute to a sustainable home.A classic sought after design; Heal's oak book table recliner chair; the ultimate multi purpose chair! There are over 500 detailed mouldings of bedsteads, cabinets, a bureau, shelves, a secretaire, clothes presses, wardrobes, chests, chairs, lace boxes, chests of drawers, stools, settees, seats, tables, sideboards, a dresser, knife cases, mirror. Drawing on design and art, popular culture and personal experience, Chair is an engaging and informative biography of this everyday object, and will appeal to anyone interested in why we choose, or are made, to sit on the chairs we do. Note: Items over 61cm or 20kg will be shipped via Parcelforce and are not included in the promotion, exclusions apply.

In 1929 the great depression hit causing a global economic crash which lasted the following decade leading up to WW2. To remove one more barrier to making a stick chair, Lost Art Press have created this set of full-size paper patterns of all the important components for the five chairs in "The Stick Chair Book". Churches and timber framed houses preserve some of the grander uses of wood but very few everyday artifacts survive. More and more, poufs are showing up in interior design as a subtle yet trendy way to bring a room together.Since actual sizes were not available online, I came up with my own by ensuring that the final project would fit through normal door opening. Although the Art Deco period is considered to be principally decorative and aesthetic driven, its historical context gives the notion of hope for the future. The five 22" x 34" sheets contain full-scale drawings of all the seats, arms, backrests, shoes and combs for the chairs. The chest still contains a good proportion of the kit of tools used by its pattern maker owners and these tools are. Chapter 8 illustrates how the Windsor ‘form of construction’ can be applied to other types of furniture.
