The dynamic look of Art Deco was inspired by cubism, futurism and the Bauhaus movement with references to ancient cultures such as the Aztecs and Egyptians. After being asked many times how to make them, he thought he would produce a book to teach others how to make them.

In 1929 the great depression hit causing a global economic crash which lasted the following decade leading up to WW2. To remove one more barrier to making a stick chair, Lost Art Press have created this set of full-size paper patterns of all the important components for the five chairs in "The Stick Chair Book". Churches and timber framed houses preserve some of the grander uses of wood but very few everyday artifacts survive. More and more, poufs are showing up in interior design as a subtle yet trendy way to bring a room together.Since actual sizes were not available online, I came up with my own by ensuring that the final project would fit through normal door opening. Although the Art Deco period is considered to be principally decorative and aesthetic driven, its historical context gives the notion of hope for the future. The five 22" x 34" sheets contain full-scale drawings of all the seats, arms, backrests, shoes and combs for the chairs.
