About this deal

The frustrating thing is they are almost always learned on the other side… so we must have faith and walk forward. You could easily read this entire book in one sitting and blow it off, but I would really encourage you to take some time with it and maybe even read it more than once at different times in your journey. The book speaks plainly of achieving lofty goals and overcoming conflict, and the message of the parable may touch the hearts of readers who need a spiritual push.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Challenging us to break away from the familiar to pursue the extraordinary, this inspirational parable from bestselling Prayer of Jabez author Bruce Wilkinson illustrates the manifold blessings that come from aligning our dreams with God's divine plan. Bruce Wilkerson still has the gift of telling a story with clarity, relate it to key events in the Bible and is able to clearly explain it in simple terms and illustrations. The Lord blessed me with wonderful opportunities throughout my life and some dreams have already come to pass.Once abandoned, Wilkinson says, one will doubtless encounter alarmists, defeatists, and antagonists who will try with reckless abandon to halt your progress for one reason or the other including being motivated by fear of your failure -- as well as fear of your success. And many of us will experience having to leave our Comfort Zone, the naysayers, lack of progress, hurdles, etc.

Having read Ordinary's tale, I now understand so much more about the process of developing a Big Dream, inspired by the Dream Giver.

There are some good truths that can be picked out of the muck, but also a lot of words and ideas that are not only false, but potentially harmful. A friend recommended it too me and honestly I was listened, related, embraced and was motivated to leave familiar and travel with the dream giver.

I’m currently starting a new season in my life and I feel as though this book was a great tool and piece of encouragement as I begin this new season. This book was not as offensive or dangerous as the Jabez one, I just think its focus is in the wrong place and it may distract people from taking up their cross and following Jesus. I also love how it shows how much God plays a huge role in our dreams and that we need to rely on Him for help along the way.

And it is true that you can see many of the illustrations before they are fully developed, but that is not a bad thing.

But it may also strike some as overly simplistic, since the tone veers towards childish at times ("We've all seen how Bullies work. The first thing any reader of this book should note is that the author Bruce Wilkinson is a Christian. Through reading about the journey that Ordinary goes through, I found a lot more courage and belief to pursue my dreams and overcome obstacles to make it happen. That is not to say that someone not of the Christian faith can’t find use and revelation from this book – it is just a note so that the context of the lessons make sense; since the book starts off with an allegory. But it may also strike some as overly simplistic, since the tone veers towards childish at times (""We've all seen how Bullies work. I thought that this was such a great book to the point that I read it from start to finish in one setting.
