El Dorado 15YO Rum has a full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate, pepper and rich vanilla. For a simple and refreshing rum number, add a shot of El Dorado 15 Year Old Rum to a glass of ice, top up with ginger beer, and finish with a squeeze of fresh lime. El Dorado rums follow the international standard for age statemnts meaning that the age stated on the bottle will be of the youngest rum in the blend so some of it may be much older. With its various stills, no other rum distillery in the world offers such a variety and range of different styles of rum.

Rum started to be produced in Demerara County, Guyana, as early as the 1640s after the land was reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean by Dutch engineers. All Eldorado rums are made from molasses obtained from Demerara sugar and the Special Reserve is a blend of rums made in Coofey stills and their wooden pot stills all of which have been aged for at least 15 years. I don’t do hydrometer tests, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the new 15 has very little to no added sugar. Some say it has all the rough edges and is a mighty fine sipping rum that is smooth and traditional. When the collaboration with Luca ended, they started bottling them under their own El Dorado Rare Collection brand.
