About this deal

The book itself s less damaged than before and we have kept it anyway as we could not go through the same frustration a third time. Fabulous and invaluable "how to" book which will let a complete beginner hit the ground running but provide lots of useful info for those further along in their gardening experience.

Here you will find out how to choose your tools and a greenhouse, hard landscaping, climate, soil management and composting. First published in 1971 and revised in 1977, Wyman's Gardening Encyclopedia has sold more than 100,000 copies and become a veritable bible for the gardeners of the United States and Canada. The increased interest produced an unprecedented expansion of business among horticultural suppliers, nurseries, garden centres, and seedsmen.Encyclopaedia Britannica's editors oversee subject areas in which they have extensive knowledge, whether from years of experience gained by working on that content or via study for an advanced degree. The true essence of gardening can be described as both an art and a science, both working harmoniously to create a lasting masterpiece. The charity also promotes horticulture through world-renowned flowers shows such as the Chelsea Flower Show, the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the Tatton Park Flower Show and the Cardiff Flower Show. Biography: Formerly Director General of the Royal Horticultural Society, Christopher Brickell is an eminent plantsman. Whatever your level of skill in the great outdoors, expert advice from editor Christopher Brickell and a team of specialist contributors will help you keep your garden thriving all year round.

The beginner can produce pleasing results without the exacting studies and practice required by, for example, painting or music. From seed to flower, the RHS helps you create the perfect garden with a fully revised and updated encyclopedia. I bought this for a mothers day present, I'm not a gardening enthusiast myself, so I can't make any comments about the contents. I used it throughout my studies for an RHS certificate and turn to it often still in my work as a gardener. We take intellectual property concerns very seriously, but many of these problems can be resolved directly by the parties involved.

Over three years in the making the book shows every aspect of gardening painstakingly photographed to help you pinpoint precisely what you need to know about a particular gardening technique or garden plant. Vital to the protection of plants, gardens and green spaces for future generations, the RHS helps over two million school children get into gardening and supports more than 1,700 communities to create their own gardens, encouraging people to grow their own food. Updated with the latest guidance to help your plants withstand pests and diseases, and techniques to make your garden more resilient in the face of climate change, you'll find everything you need to know. This book is designed for anyone who takes any interest in gardening, from the owner of a small town garden or allotment to the professional who requires a convenient reference book. Packed with unrivalled detail and a vast breadth of information, you’ll find advice and clearly photographed step-by-step guides that show you how to garden, whether you’re tackling your vegetable plot or tending to cacti and succulents. If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case. There’s a nice chapter on cacti and succulents and even a section on how to propagate ferns from spores. Garden visiting on an international scale provides an opportunity to understand the broad cultural influences, as well as the variations in climate and soil, that have resulted in so many different approaches to garden making.

A photographic gallery illustrates clearly the symptoms of hundreds of pests and diseases for quick identification and control. From planting stylish flower beds to turning your backyard into a perfume den with sweet floral scents, this guide covers it all. There's plenty of full colour photographs throughout to illustrate, and if you want to grow your own there's plenty of detail in the chapters on herb, fruit and vegetable gardens. In 1976 he was awarded the RHS Victoria Medal of Honour for his services to horticulture, followed by the CBE in 1991. Books, journals, and newspaper columns on garden practice have found an eager readership, while television and radio programs on the subject have achieved a dedicated following.
