About this deal

The Juin tech F1 hydraulic cable pull disc brake set offers a unique solution to the road/gravel/cyclocross/MTB rider wanting to upgrade from mechanical cable pull disc brakes.

One thing to note: when the GT's heat up, the pistons are a little slow to retract until they cool off a bit - just like my Shimano hydros. only issue I have with them on initial install the pistons are pushing the pads to the disc rotor and its constantly rubbing when aligned, may have to break them in but the pistons are very tight even after adjusting the hand adjuster. Four pairs of bolts in varying lengths are provided for the rear caliper, to suit a range of chainstay depths - a nice touch, some brands make you purchase these separately. For non-mechanics, you'll be pleased to hear this process is very simple, exactly the same as fitting a set of cable disc brakes.

Well provided you can look past the fact Juin Tech isn't an established brand – at least not in the UK where this review is being written – you should be smiling with these R1 anchors.

GT stands for Grand Tour, and these brakes are designed to offer high performance on road bikes - but they're equally suited to gravel or cyclocross duties. This allows the rider to use their normal sti/ergo or flat bar levers on a disc brake bike without the expense of upgrading everything to a full hydraulic system. They are certainly better than the TRP's but aren't anywhere near my Road Shimano Hydro's or even my mates BB7's with Shimano Mechanical Shifters. Maybe not the best apples-to-apples comparison, but I've found the GT-F to have significantly more power and modulation. Perhaps Campag's hydraulic shifters just shade it on lever feel, but in terms of performance the Juin Tech GT-F are every bit as good. Fitting was easy enough, the instructions such as they are make sense and allowing for fitting a new inner cable it only took about twenty minutes to get them on the bike.

The points do not expire, and can be used to top up your cash payment, or to purchase products outright. The braking performance is improved compared to a mechanical disc brake with simple pad and cable adjustment.Update NRW has just sent us this revised version of their original statement: We know our visitor centres are a much-loved resource among locals and visitors from further afield and. They can take up to an additional 4 working days to arrive in your account depending on your bank’s policies. In our final week of testing the Juin Tech R1 brakes, I was riding at pace along a quiet shared path when a pedestrian wearing headphones suddenly stepped in front of me.

But once they've bedded in, they'll allow you to brake later and more confidently, and that's definitely worth paying for. Ok, not as good as a fully sealed hydraulic system, but I find them more robust than mechanical discs in wet and mud as I find mechanical systems fill their guys with crap and stop working effeectively. If you're hoping for stopping power that's comparable to the best hydraulic systems then we hate to break it to you, these aren't that. Fitted them this week but still to ride them but they pass the garage track stand test with flying colours. Well the brakes didn't immediately feel much more powerful than the cable disc brakes (Hayes CX Expert) fitted previously, but after a week or two of riding the pads had bedded in nicely.
