About this deal
If I’m onto anything, it’s that Crash uses the symbol of the car less as commentary on technology (as every book blurb ever will insist) than as a ‘vehicle’ to analyze the human peculiarity of the death-fixation. James soon becomes one of Vaughan's followers who fetishize car crashes, obsessively watching car safety test videos, photographing traffic collisions, and recounting the deaths of famous people in road accidents. The accident serves as his sexual awakening, and he is introduced to a group of people whose sexual fantasies revolve around car accidents, wounds, bodily fluids and metal. And I understand that in looking at this world of fetishes and fetishists this book examines and pores over and builds-upon itself with the dedication of a fetishist. G.Ballard was born in Shanghai (China) in 1930 and lived there until the end of the Second World War. A remarkable novel that interposes sex with automobile violence, the basis for the controversial film by David Cronenberg. A prude I am not, but I do have an aversion to an apparent revelling in blood and guts and feces and brain matter and semen that goes well beyond the amount required to make the thematic point.Crash, like Psycho represents a divine mirror of truth, maturity, understanding and intellect and leaves the reader with no doubt about their level of intellectual faculty and personal growth.
Nas últimas fotografias os ferimentos que iriam mascarar seu rosto começavam a aparecer, como os traços de uma segunda personalidade, uma prévia das faces ocultas de sua psique que somente emergiriam depois na meia-idade.For all its cataclysmic aspirations, the book has made a resounding clunk rather than a brilliant Crash !
