When the revolting Asdrubale Tirinnanzi's Great Uncle Sempronio dies, he's convinced that he's finally going to inherit his millions. Once you get past the unusual names, there is absolutely nothing to stop young readers getting lost in this funny novel with larger than life characters - I'm not sure when I last met a villain so disgusting! I enjoyed Massey's story, which, although it has "good" and "bad" witches, manages to paint both in a somewhat sympathetic light. The other witches explain to her that she's only become a good witch- and they would have been stuck with one, anyway. After Miss Snarly departs, Papa Smurf says that they must rescue Scaredy, but tells Farmer that while he can reverse a little witch's spell, reversing a big witch's spell is more difficult.I especially liked the illustrations of the witches flying, and them sitting in a circle with their faces lit up, they are captured perfectly.

Papa Smurf is pleased that Brenda has used her powers for good, and Brenda is pleased that Miss Snarly will lose her powers for a year. Having said this, there are many things for young minds to enjoy about The Littlest Witch and what with it being Halloween why not treat your children to a fab little book – with many a laugh out loud moment and some gross moments too…because who doesn’t love a bit of grossness. Smurfette defends Brenda by saying Papa Smurf would be the first to teach this young witch how to be good. it now sits on my shelf as a reminder of my first grade teacher who cared enough to push me where others did not.

I like the way Wilma is empowered to take charge and set things right with her ingenuity, preparation, and knowledge. The Nebula Award has been awarded to stories in the Science Fiction and Fantasy genre every year since 1966.

Some of the adornments surrounding the text pages feel like they could have been drawn by a child and it's totally charming.
