It is a great spring/summer fragrance indeed, it reminds me of another neroli cheapie Just Jack Neroli. Alternatively if you are ever in a southern European country check out the local EdC scents at the supermarket, you will be surprised how more vivid they smell in comparison. It smells either like alcohol or like those refreshing tissues passengers get on commercial airliners. The risk of being generic is that you can encounter this smell from a variety of places, including toilet bowls. It's nice because it doesn't last too long, so it doesn't fill the room with the scent all day or waft throughout the house.It's just disappointing that the scent disappears without trace within an hour - I guess that's magic. It's cheap enough to not worry about wasting any, and even with doing this daily, the bottle lasted me nearly a year. Most bottles, I'm sure, were a birthday or Christmas present, not a personal choice, but had to be used up nonetheless. was a household staple in my family -- it was a foregone conclusion that, when my grandparents visited Europe, they would be bringing back little bottles of 4711 as gifts (with the soaps to match).

It definitely lasts longer than a few minutes though and I can still detect it 6-7 hours later if I wet my skin.Overall it's a great fresh complement to a morning routine, I could even use it as after shave I think. Due to the poor performance, and due to the fact that there are better citrus fragrances and colognes out there, I can't give 4711 Cologne a 10/10. It's such fantastic value you can be lavish with it, lovely at any time of year especially in summer when you can douse yourself in it and keep spritzing as the longevity is minimal.

Created in the city of Cologne, 4711 Original eau de cologne remains virtually unchanged for over 220 years. I am certain this was once stunning, in Köln in the 1800s, but currently it smells completely hollow. It may not necessarily be as good as some of the other famous eaux de cologne that last longer and are even prettier (like Eau de Guerlain), but it's pretty and fresh and fairly inexpensive. this is definitely a classic and a must have for collectors in their archive ( but it isn't a necessity hehe, did I just contradict myself?
