About this deal

Well to top off all the good bounty of new 1969 Beatles footage low and behold a grey market DVD/Blu-ray set entitled “Get Back: The Rooftop Concert” has also made its way to the world and does feature what would make a superb bonus disc to this new “Get Back” set. Readers of this blog may remember that this past April I posted a blog in which I thought for sure the “Get Back” documentary had finally been released at that time – well, the DVD version anyway.

The excellent grain texture has been removed and rendered in such a way that it looks like it went through a digital carwash with no sense of detail. The Atmos track is the default, and it plays fine, though the program's very nature disallows much in the way of spatial aggression or awareness. Also featured - for the first time in its entirety - is The Beatles' last live performance as a group - the unforgettable rooftop concert on London's Savile Row - as well as other songs and classic compositions featured on the band's final two albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be. The Beatles: Get Back – The Rooftop Performance Concert was screened in IMAX at the Apple Corps headquarters in London and various theaters around the U. And for those clamouring for 'Let It Be' to be released, I'm sure those 90 minutes are all included here.

They proved in this remake that the Beatles had an amazing time together despite some differences between themselves. Directed by Peter Jackson, the series offers unprecedented access to the band as they prepare to record the Let It Be album. Disney supports streaming its content via Disney+ and in the future that looks like it will be the only game in town folks. There are no extras on any of the discs, so us fans expecting additional / bonus material will be (slightly) disappointed about this. The Beatles: Get Back captures the group writing and rehearsing 14 new songs that were meant for a live album, and other songs featured on The Beatles’ final albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be.
