About this deal

Letztes Jahr las ich den Thriller „Black Sun“ aus dem Bastei Lübbe Verlag, der identisch wie dieser Thriller in Russland in der Nachkriegszeit spielt.

Of course, this book is by Victoria Schwab, and I don’t know if the woman is altogether comfortable with writing a story without any sadness. I like historical fiction and this cold war stuff but the reason for the killings was as I said silly. As the characters are revealed, you are drawn in to a world full of desperate barely surviving survivors of war, atrocities, betrayals and hopelessness and that are made all the more realistic in the descriptions of their frailties, flaws, dreams and memories of happier times.

So, all in all I’m really happy I’ve read this story and can’t wait to read the next books in this series. After all, she and her ghost best friend Jacob have survived two haunted cities while travelling for her parents' TV show. Corruption is rife, abject poverty strongly in evidence but largely ignored by the higher echelons of power, and Creed paints an incredibly convincing picture of a society and city still bearing the wounds of the Second World War. Militia officer, Revol Rossel, a violinist whose fingers were crippled by a wartime MGB interrogation, is a major part of a team investigating 5 bodies, with ID removed, found on a railway siding. City of Ghosts is a super fun, spooky, and atmospheric read that follows Cassidy Blake, a young girl who can enter "the veil" and see the ghosts within.Es herrscht eine gute Spannung von Beginn an, da man als Leser herausfinden möchte, warum ausgerechnet die Leichen wie auf Notenlinien hinterlassen worden sind. I also enjoyed that Cass can actually see ghosts, and interact with them, even though no one else in her family can.

They need to go to one of the most haunted cities in the world (Edinburgh) so the can film the first episode. I would reccomend if ofc too younger readers and for Ve schwab fans who want too read more of her different works , just dont go in expecting something like her adult books. Ever since Cass almost drowned (okay, she did drown, but she doesn't like to think about it), she can pull back the Veil that separates the living from the dead . When you start to read a book by Victoria Schwab it takes time to get into the story, but when you’re in, when you’re really in, then it’s over.We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. Even from the first paragraph, the author sets the story on the high-quality mystery and crime thrillers, it’s dark and whimsical in many ways but it also has moments of humanity when our hero is transported so many times in his early years and all the events he thought he left behind. When her parents are presented with an opportunity to host a TV show that takes viewers on a tour of the scariest cities in the world, Cassidy and her family pack up and head to their first destination, Scotland. She loves fairy tales, and folklore, and stories that make her wonder if the world is really as it seems. Hooking you from the very first page, it has just the right amount of spookiness, mystery and action, keeping you on the edge of your seat without getting gory.

After school he did three a-levels at a local sixth form - none of which was English Literature, which he now regrets. I did like Rossel and there was lots of promise if the next book is more plot based than I would most probably read more. I may have exaggerated a lot here but what I am trying to say is that this is a Middle Grade book and we should approach it as one. Obviously the book was inspired by Gorky Park but set in Leningrad during the bad old days of Stalin. Lieutenant Rossel is a good but damaged character and main investigator of a macabre multiple murder in the Russian winter.

I saw someone compare this novel to “Strangers Things meets Ghost Hunters” and I 100% agree with this sentiment. Also it's probably a three star book, but my future children's first words are probably gonna be "Victoria Schwab" so I added a bonus star just for that.
