About this deal

Oh and if you don't know what hypnobirthing is, it is a type of hypnotherapy/pawlow dog effect where you work on conditioning your brain to associate x or y with positive things. Giving birth—however you choose to do it—is truly the most amazing thing you will experience in your life, and meeting your precious baby for the first time is one of life's most unforgettable moments. In this book, Siobhan debunks common myths about hypnobirthing and explains why she believes it can make every type of birth a better experience – from a water birth at home to an unplanned caesarean in theatre. The breathing and relaxation techniques are good and helpful for the early stages of labour - but I do feel that for most women, the picture that this paints an unrealistic image of what labour and birth is like.

Through her teaching she seeks to educate and empower women - and their birth partners - so that they can enjoy amazing and positive birth experiences, however they choose to bring their babies into the world. I gave birth to my first baby on 21st April and used loads of the hypnobirthing techniques but also wanted a hospital birth and pain relief.I'm grateful to no longer be the quintessential helpless father figure, but the "keeper of the cave", responsible for managing the environment, relaxing mum, supporting her through the breathing exercises, and being by her side throughout the experience. Remember, the mechanics of how your baby enters the world matter little long-term in comparison to how you felt when your baby came into the world. I haven’t given birth yet and although I’ve read this book cover to cover I know I’m not done reading it. After reading this book I was actually really looking forward to giving birth and felt almost excited and not nervous at all at the prospect.

This book has completely changed my view on labour and how I would like it to pan out and I now feel happy and confident moving forward. I also really enjoyed the participation of your birth partner, so I am eager for him to read this so we can both stay informed and have a calm and informed birth together.

Whilst I understand some of her points, she makes you feel ashamed to want to listen to the viewpoints of trained medical professionals. This book has given me the chance to understand the choices I have within the birth centre/hospital and I can't wait to use some of the techniques.
