Made of soft, pliable silicone, these will, when used correctly (full instructions come with them) simply mould to COVER the ear canal and sit flush with the external part of the ear.
It is not the gum itself, but the wide opening motion of the jaw and the act of swallowing that helps aid in the equalization process.Easy to use, supremely comfortable, Mack's PillowSoft earplugs are particularly suitable for sleeping and travelling, as well as for keeping out water. I tried those once and while they did alleviate some of the problem, they did not do much more than slightly reduce it. The first night one fell out, the next night and throughout the week bits and pieces were left on my pillowcase – yuck. As the earplugs are only to be used as an aid, the user needs to take an active role in trying to prevent the onset of the ear pressure discomfort. Moisture collects on the ear plugs and inside my ears and it makes them lose the suction and they fall out. Unfortunately we are no longer able to send to France, Germany, Norway, Slovakia or Sweden due to customs regulations. Same great qualities found in Mack's White and Hot Orange silicone ear plugs, but in a color that makes it less obvious you are wearing ear plugs. Made from non-irritating silicone rubber, they mold to the unique contours of any ear to seal out water and help to prevent swimmer's ear and surfer's ear. I live in a noisy building and they not only block out the noise, they stand up to multiple wearings.

If the earplugs are being used in a moist and/or dirty environment, be sure the hands and ears are clean and dry before applying or re-inserting the earplugs or a proper seal may not be achieved. One pair of earplugs can last quite a long time but need to be replaced once they've lost their 'stickiness' - the magic of silicone is that, although it feels tacky, it leaves no residue on either skin or bedding!
