About this deal

The Manhattan fulfills all these functions and more, series link recording is a bonus, picture quality better than Samsung (Me Neither! It works very fast but of course once the show has expired on whatever catchup service you're selecting it from it will expire as well on your watchlist. Looks like a unit I’d be interested in to replace my Humax at some point, if the manual timers and padding time to recordings were implemented. I see no point in having channel favourites if it reverts back to the full channel list after going into standby or using the P+ button, I have deleted many unused channels to get a usable channel list.MIL gets confused when confronted with tv home screen (so many small icons) and won't remember how to get to the Manhattan's home page from there. but a long-standing issue related to HDD initialisation and standby synchronisation that occurs randomly in some boxes more than others. And then there’s the recording feature: without it, a Freeview device only lets you watch “live” shows, as they are aired. So once a programme overruns its scheduled end time, if a tuner is needed for another programme that is starting at its scheduled start time, or later, then the T3-R will stop the recording.

As with every Freeview device, the number of channels it can find depends mainly on your aerial and on the Freeview signal and reception in your house. The obvious stand out difference would be that the Manhattan only records 2 programmes at once but apart from that i'm not sure what other differences there are?Although the Manhattan T3-R has a digital TV tuner inside and gets content over-the-air through (preferably) a rooftop aerial, the Manhattan T3-R demands an internet connection to really come alive. However, if you’re desperate to ditch your expensive subscription TV set-top box and/or breathe new life into an ageing TV whose digital tuners are looking increasingly ancient, there are few better options for a glossy Freeview Play recording and catch-up TV experience than the Manhattan T3-R.

You can also add shows to a special ‘Watchlist’, where all the catchup-shows you regularly watch – from different apps – will be waiting for you.

If you're an Easyjet passenger who was issued a voucher during the Covid-19 pandemic, you've less than one week left to use it before it expires on 31 January 2024. It’s fun to use, works fast and is thoroughly future-proofed, and yet there’s something that prevents us from getting too excited about the Manhattan T3-R. When you do get around to using it, not sure why you have posted without doing so, let us know if it still cuts the end off outgoing programmes, rather than the start of incoming ones, in the event of an overrun, which is the reason I bought the Humax 5000 instead despite its many faults highlighted on here. As this is a 4K telly are there any settings I should be tweaking on the Manhattan to make sure I get the best out of it? While these looked spectacular, those trials come and go, and while you can’t even watch the archived versions of Blue Planet II and Dynasties in 4K, other BBC 4K content is sometimes added (such as the recent Doctor Who new year special in 4K).
