About this deal

I liked the format of the book especially Nell's Things I Am Grateful For at the end of each chapter. This is a great follow-up to the first book set 2 years on as Nell continues with her podcast and still struggles with life. There’s so much pressure now on social media to sort of have this perfect life and the book says that that's just not reality. Life, like us, is a sum of moving parts, and if we’re lucky, we get to keep f**king up, figuring it out and laughing in the face of it all. These titles have sold in twenty-five territories and achieved worldwide sales of more than one million copies, making the bestseller charts across the world.

Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. This takes us through Nell’s life after she thinks she’s finally figured it out and her life is back on track. When you get these kind of haphazard rom-coms (a genre I will be trademarking) you expect them to be fun and silly and light-hearted. Forget a face cream, fall in love’ and ‘books are heavy because they carry the weight of our imaginations’. Confessions of a Forty-Something F*ck Up is perfect comfort reading for anyone who thinks life isn’t working out as they want it to, whether they’re forty, fourteen or eighty-four. The story of Nell Stevens’ struggle through her imperfect, messy life doesn’t just make brilliant fiction, it’s turning into a cultural revolution! Getting married when you’re older is always more difficult because you both carry baggage: kids, ex’s, memories, expectations and disappointments as well as ‘stuff’ – far too much stuff for two people to fit into one house!

You’ll laugh, cry and possibly rage a few times whilst reading this, but what’s reading for if not to make you feel something? Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher / author for providing me with a free electronic copy of this book for review. Now Alexandra Potter, the Bradford-born author behind Confessions of a Forty-Something **** Up is preparing to bring out its sequel. This novel isn't just a sequel; it's a continuation of a journey that reminds us that life's path is rarely linear. No old lady hair’ should have been included in our wedding vows as my husband has made me promise this on numerous occasions.
