The incense, the beeswax polished woodiness of old pews, slightly musty faded florals from the yet-to-be-replaced bouquets sat at the end of each pew. There is a sharp note that I don't really care for that never seems to quite go away, but it's just so lovely otherwise that I don't mind it. I can still smell it on my skin except now this turned into a beautiful wood and oud fragrance with a sharp note that still reminds me of new tire (or some rubber material) but I kinda like it. I love the firm language of this creation, it could persuade me to comply ever so easily and effortless. Let's not forget that all of that incense burned in the cathedrals of Europe draw on the tradition of early church rituals developed all around the Mediterranean Rim, particularly towards the Middle Eastern side. Wonderful scent which combines sleepy-lidded heavy oriental honey and vanilla with the dark resins of Serge Noire, which it reminds me of. I am a forest person and this is exactly the scent that I always hoped could once again be captured in a perfume.

The combination of incense, anise, and cinnamon blends seamlessly with a honeyed sweetness that adds a wonderful spiced dimension. I don’t mind challenging fragrances but there is a note that runs throughout this house that ruins the scents for my nose. Francesca worked so much on the balance of so many ingredients that she actually forgot where it all started: in Marrakesh, one of her favourite cities. If you do decide to put these blends on your skin (unable to resist the temptation) always test the blend on the inside part of your elbow first and wait.
