About this deal

L oved it – without judgement, but with a cheeky wink of wisdom, Fearne gives you the tools that she’s learned on her own journey. Loved it - without judgement, but with a cheeky wink of wisdom, Fearne gives you the tools that she's learned on her own journey.

Each chapter leaves you pondering, assessing and re-evaluating how you live your life and how you may/may not have been withholding and silencing your true self. Tiny stars were used as bullet points and added to the corners of box frames to add a twinkle of character. I know self help books aren't everyone's cup of tea but if you do like them I think Fearne's books are so so great to be honest. I have underlined so many fragments of wisdom from Fearne, as she works through her own challenges of speaking her truth and finding her inner voice. While some sections of the book were so easy to read and whizz through, some parts really made me stop and think. With workbook elements to help you start and end the day well; get in touch with your creative side; and find peace through written exercises, simple practical ideas and visualisations, these are daily tricks and reminders to help you unlock that inner happiness.

It was an easy read and did not require me to concentrate much so in that sense it was relaxing however it sounded more like I was reading Ferne's daily journal as some of the parts almost felt like a rant.

I do enjoy the podcasts on happy place but felt this was a lockdown diary account just talking about their self and their experience. Although nothing was new to me, it was all a good reminder to be honest with yourself and believe in yourself and your truth. I have to say everything and I mean everything Fearne said in this book I could correlate back to myself. I’m on this constant journey to my own truth and it’s a learning curve each time I discover new truths about myself and this book has made me realise how strong I have been in letting my truths out. I don't feel that Fearne had enough to cover in this book to justify writing it personally and quite often I felt that she went from one random thought to a next and off on different tangents!

Fearne had an eager upbeat way of talking which works well for radio and for this book, as if she was interviewing herself, but I think this is part of why it felt more like a podcast. Brave, vulnerable and deeply personal, Speak Your Truth shares Fearne's compelling story and helps you to shape your own. Starting out in TV at the age of 15 and going on to front prime time shows including Top Of The Pops and Children In Need, Fearne has proven herself as an excellent broadcaster for both radio and television. An almighty positive which came out of a terrible year, let it inspire us all to stand tall, look the new year right in the eye and resolve to speak our truth.I am sure many people will relate to Fearne’s accounts of how damaging it is when we don’t speak our truth - I certainly did, it was like reading about myself! There are also times especially more recently I was honest with a ‘friend’ who helped me through the darkest days of postnatal depression and she repaid me with lies, negativity and deceit and to top it off she discloses to other people that I am all the things I believe myself to be - annoying, spiteful, unkind, ugly, hateful, fat, needy, over-confident, outspoken and rude. Fearne Cotton is a tireless seeker of the truth, and a wonderful communicator of sanity, hope, and (most refreshingly of all) reality. So, when Fearne’s doctor told her she was at risk of needing a throat operation followed by two weeks of being unable to speak, she found herself facing a period of unexpected contemplation. Fearne Cotton's voice is familiar to millions, whether that's through television, radio or on her hugely successful 'Happy Place' podcast.
