The latest addition to Asics' line of mid-range stability shoes, the GT-2000 9 builds on its predecessor with just a few thoughtful design tweaks, like a softer, more breathable upper and more comfortable ankle cushioning. The upper is a one-piece breathable mesh design that is a nice improvement upon previous generations of the GT 2000 9. The midsole often incorporates ASICS' signature cushioning technology, such as GEL, for shock absorption and a smooth ride.

The upper feels more breathable than that of the GT-2000 8 thanks to the redesigned upper, making it a particularly comfortable shoe for warmer weather, or hitting the treadmill indoors.The mesh fabric allows cool air to flow throughout the upper whilst, at the same time allowing hot humid air to escape so you can remain cool, dry and comfortable at all times. I was able to run comfortably in all different settings, from a casual run around the block, a jog through a welcoming trail, and I even took them as a hiking shoe over rocks, gravel, and through mud. As with the Kayano, Asics is now building the GT 2000 around its Dynamic Duomax midsole posting foam. Asics special AHAR+ (Asics High Abrasion Resistant) carbon rubber is reserved for use in the heel where heavy wear can occur.

The reinforced fibres let the material bounce back to its original shape after every run; so you can train harder, more frequently, for longer, without the worry that your shoes might not be able to take it. Updated with a one-piece upper construction for an improved fit, the ninth incarnation of the GT-2000™ running shoe secures the top of the foot with a lightweight design and soft comfort. We have the converted nearly all shapes and lengths to the correct sizes for all of the brands (Asics, Nike, adidas, etc. ASICS' high abrasion rubber is a tough rubber compound used at the heavy-contact or high wear areas which helps to cut down on excessive wear. I find the satin-like upper material for the heel collar and the tongue to be almost too delicate to the touch. If you are looking for an agile, reliable stability road shoe for daily, long-distance runs and quick-paced training, the ASICS GT 2000 9 is ready to go!

They look pretty much identical to the normal GT 2000’s but you can feel that there’s in difference in the GTX. GEL™ technology cushioning generates excellent shock absorption, while a layer of FLYTEFOAM™ material in the midsole creates a softer and more supportive feel at footstrike. The heel and mid foot are supported by six sewn overlays while the toe box gets a split welded overlay both medially and laterally. Sometimes things just line up right and the Asics 2000 GTX has become my go to shoe for the trail this winter.
