About this deal

Written by their children, who were no doubt in the house during some of their more hideous crimes, adds a personal touch which adds more depth to the book and makes a more engaging read. Yes, it is very graphic, but to hold back on that information would be to ignore what drove the two parents to kill again and again. I have long been interested in the case of Fred and Rose West, and this book, written by two of their older children, is the most comprehensive look at what life was like at 25 Cromwell Street that I have found. It’s a chilling account of the crimes committed by Fred and Rosemary West, and a stark reminder of the cruelty that some people are capable of.

I hope to introduce new features during 2022 and join the Bookstagram community on Instagram properly, so come and follow me there too! The authors describe in harrowing detail how Fred and Rose lured young women to their home, subjected them to unimaginable torture and abuse, and then killed them.Stephen and Mae West take on a big challenge, writing about their family life from when they were small, all the way through to the trials of both Fred and Rosemary. Fred had told Mae that it was his father who had taught him that it was a father’s duty to ‘break in’ his daughters. Tbh what I can't understand is HOW Mae still visits Rose and how mae +stephen have written this story sympathising with Rose +fred also.

Although the children were unaware of the murders going on, life at 25 Cromwell Street was certainly not wholesome or typical in any way. This book is and excellent read, written in the words of Stephen and Mae West, looking back at their family life then, up to the trial of their parents. With details of the ordeal the two of them went through throughout and after the time living with their parents, it can be rather harrowing in places. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Stephen was close at times to his father but had to grow up so fast neither realished the horror under there feet and both seem really upset about there fathers actions.Without wanting to appear overly sceptical, one can’t help but feel that the two editors (no doubt fellow reporters for said newspaper) are more concerned with milking the story for all its worth than the actual rehabilitative welfare of Stephen and Mae. As body after body was removed from 25 Cromwell Street, Stephen and Mae West were forced to confront the truth about their family including, for Mae, the unbearable knowledge that she might easily have been the next victim. In parts it's quite hard to keep up with what's going on as the statements keep jumping from one thing to another. I read mainly Mysteries and Thrillers, with over half of my reads being Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) directly from the publisher/author. Even if she did not abuse anyone (doubtful)her beatings of Stephen was disgusting and shows how CRUEL she is.

But the kids were expected to pull their own weight around the farm at Much Marcle in Herefordshire where they lived. How they didn't throw their parents to the wolves after what they did to them I will never understand! feel sorry 4 the children and also the poor victims and families+ who knows how many futher victims are buried- SHOCKING! They were inhabiting a living hell - a highly sexualised environment where extreme violence and sexual abuse was the norm. The psychotic episodes that often gripped Fred and Rose West were not just symptomatic of their own dysfunctional childhoods (Fred was a paedophile who got his own sister pregnant and Rose was sleeping with her father from her teens upwards) but symptomatic of their own broken minds. It is heartbreaking as you read the book not only the abuse that Stephen, mae and the other children went through but also the battle Stephen and mae have to go through balancing their loyalty to their parents and what was being said in the media and the trial. e. Stephen and Mae West’s words) were obtained, the book’s structure, and ultimately identifies the book as part of Stephen and Mae’s ‘rehabilitation process’. It was interesting to go back and see how that differed from these early days when everything was just coming to light and the shock of coming to terms with their new notoriety as the children of Britain’s worst killer couple. Their unpredictable world of brutality, sexual abuse and violence finally came apart with the most shattering series of discoveries any child could be asked to face.
