About this deal

I read this during my Interrail trip this summer and didn't expect to read too much as my days were very packed and I didn't know how much brain energy I'd have at the end of the day. And speaking of Lysander, let me say this… He is one of the most despicable and self-righteous characters I’ve read in speculative fiction. Light Bringer combines Brown’s trademark character work and action sequences with the grimness of Dark Age, and the hopefulness of the original trilogy, to create a truly unique entry in the Red Rising Saga.

However, those of us who have read through Dark Age know that some of the relationships that we’ve come to love so much are in dire straits, potentially broken forever.I started Lightbringer on audiobook, but the production value was so bad that after 2 hours, I decided to wait for my physical copy that was set to arrive a few days later. Darrow begins to worry he’s no better than those he fought against, and the reader begins to wonder, too. Anyway i feel if the whole show had to be laid at anyones feet im glad it was TGR cus he is a marvel. There were some shocking moments, twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, and lots of good ol’ Pierce Brown action scenes with the high stakes and blistering pace that I’ve come to love. Golden Sun was a clear improvement, and then Morning Star was an even bigger improvement, providing an absolutely fantastic conclusion to the trilogy.

And speaking of payoff this book gave me so much of what I had been looking foward to after Dark Age. tim is the best in the business, I have listened to 300 + audio books, mostly fantasy + sci-fi and he is pure class.Special thanks to my Patrons on Patreon for giving me extra support towards my passion for reading and reviewing! We better get a solid resolution to that baby Jackal bullshit Pierce pulled out of his ass in Dark Age. The action in this book focuses less on the massive planet-spanning conflicts of Dark Age with millions of combatants, and more on smaller-scale warfare, though the stakes remain incredibly high.

Pierce stated he wrote have approx 70 pages of a Sevro POV, going in a few different directions, which he may release pieces of later, but they will not be canon There were also a bunch of different prologues which were them all scrapped.

He laughed when I told him my favorite character was Sevro (who deserves more love than he gets and I will defend him to the end!

If we demand restitution for all the evils that have been done to us, there will be no end to this war. Red Rising is an amazing series, its core are the humanae gestae and the characters, a cast that, after 5 years since first reading the series, feels like home.As always, much applause for TGR as he is able to convey such intricate dialogue with heartfelt emotion- or purposeful lack there of. I always cared more for the the interpersonal relationships of characters and the philosophical themes of these books than any big fighting scenes or fast paced action (the reason Golden Son is actually my least favourite in the series). But on that review of Dark Age, especially on my first read without a sign of Light Bringer in sight back then, I felt Brown did not implement his most outstanding gift as a storyteller.
