Peter Pan: The Second Star to the Right • You Can Fly • A Pirate's Life (Is a Wonderful Life) • Following the Leader • What Made the Red Man Red?

But just as she is on the cusp of accepting a life of misery, events take a stunning turn when a handsome stranger - the poet and notorious rake Lord Byron - arrives at her house, stricken by what seems to be a curse, and with a cryptic message for Lucy. While Hades tries to make the best of a lonely situation, eternity proves a long time to be forced live in a role-a domain-he never wanted. The 9th instalment in the hugely successful Villains Tales series, based on Disney's most infamous pirate, Captain Hook, tells the story of young James Bartholomew, the Lost Boy who never was. Despite the book being based, at least in part, in Neverland, it wasn't until the Odd Sisters were part of the conversation that I felt any real magic about what was happening.Je suis donc un peu déçue de cette fin de roman, mais j’ai passé un très très bon moment sur cette lecture, c’était très doudou alors ça me convient très bien! To rescue him, Rose traveled to the land that lay east of the sun and west of the moon to defeat the evil Troll Queen. Thankfully, Valentino’s creativity, characters and writing style more than makes up for it, up to and including the satisfying, surprising, bitter end.

She loves her family—jovial King Fergus, proper Queen Elinor, the mischievous triplets—and her peaceful kingdom. Maybe my feelings were a bit shady because of another recently read that tells another story about Hook with more intensity and mystery. It is a lot to digest and may be overwhelming if the reader does not have any familiarity with Valentino’s original characters and their expansive universe. The fifth installment of Valentino's Villains series retells the story of Mother Gothel, the old witch who kept Rapunzel in a tower. Valentino does a great job stepping into the shoes of each of these villains but I think as the series continues, I just find myself wanting more.

He certainly had my attention in the beginning because I was intrigued to see how this man from a privileged background would survive with a ragtag bunch of misfits. Although I didn’t love the writing style since it read very young, the dialogues were drawn out immensely and involved a lot of repetitions, the book still managed to lull me in very quickly. Thankfully, my perseverance did pay off and the latter part of the book picked up in pace and plot enough that I started to enjoy the experience. For Althea Vestrit, the ship is her rightful legacy unjustly denied her---a legacy she will risk anything to reclaim.

I struggled to get past the first third of the book, lacking a connection to James as a character and feeling like there wasn't really any plot for me to follow.

They're admired in their community and are a loving family—until their world falls apart the day their son, Sebastian, is taken. Here is one version of the story that has remained untold for centuries--a tale of mothers and daughters, youth and dark magic. Born Princess Vanessa of Atlantica, the ambitious young royal was one of two children born to the great King Poseidon. I enjoyed getting to know James and Blackbeard, and the pirate adventures and magical lands they find themselves in were creative and fun.
